asjkaehauisa··on Elasticsearch is open source, again
Also, opensearch is free, enterprise-ready tool. It's 2024 and you have to pay for things like ldap auth in elasticsearch. https://sso.tax/
asjkaehauisa··on Ahrefs Saved US$400M in 3 Years by Not Going to the Cloud (2023)
How much do servers cost nowadays? According to the article, the cost would be $61,500 USD per server for specifications including 2TB RAM, 100Gbps, 16x 15TB drives, and 64 core CPU (assuming "We use high core-count CPUs").

Is this accurate? Could you provide me with a tip on how to acquire a server with those specifications for $60,000 USD?

just curious, do you carry 2 phones outdoor?
asjkaehauisa··on Apple doesn’t want you developing hobby apps
What do you mean by securing phone? Latest Android are secure as iPhone. You don't have to constumize Android use default. You can choose Google pixel if you want long support
asjkaehauisa··on How Cloudflare erroneously throttled a customer’s web traffic
Nice blog post but clearly doesn't solve the main issue. The problem is not outage caused by human or automation mistake. It happens and will happened again. All is about support. He didn't get help with regular support channels, he had to use "special HN support". How many cases have been ignored because someone doesn't know to make a little fuss on social media?

You're right. Probably 90% of passengers are retired persons and bloggers/vloggers. Nobody is taking it seriously in terms of transportation.

asjkaehauisa··on Google Cloud: Major packet loss between multiple regions – Europe and Asia
They won't. GCP is a investment. Building DC/backbone infrastructure is a lot harder than x application. Still they need computing power to own products. Maybe in the paper they're losing money but in reality they're securing position in the market
asjkaehauisa··on Google finally revealed how much personal data they collect in Chrome
All is about threat model. I really would love to switch to firefox but afaik it's less secure. So who would hurt me more, so random dude or corporation? My choice is simple.

It's the same with all messengers. I use facebook messenger (because everybody around me use it) and i know that they collect a lot of data (and have acess to my chats). For me, still threat isn't facebook but my acquaintances who use weak password, so they're easy target (and my messages would be compromised).

We have to change our mind about computers. Everything can be exploited and used against us.

asjkaehauisa··on Quitting Twitter
I tried to use Twitter for cyber security news. I followed very smart people and i hoped to see their research about new vulnerabilities etc. but what I mostly saw was shitty posts about politics, theirs kids and daily life and rare about my topic of interest

asjkaehauisa··on Librem 5 Evergreen vs. Pinephone
I really like alternatives, but imo AOSP is really secure and private OS. What I need is a AOSP smartphone with frequently OTA updates (like in Pixel's phone), working out of box.

I wouldn't compromise my security by choosing one of this smartphones.
