ashishk··on Launch YC S21: Meet the Batch, Thread #8
Love this idea! Have felt the problem myself and have seen my mother/MIL/wife struggle with the same thing.

It's clear that you both have extensive experience in the space, too.

How can I help / get involved? :-)

ashishk··on Ask HN: What simple tools or products are you most proud of making?
https://knife.ai, which is an email analytics tool.

I'm proud of it because it's something I've always wanted to use and create.

ashishk··on I’ve been delivering for Postmates and DoorDash
It's possible the prices will fall. Food is a commodity and commodities want to be cheap. Drones, robots, delivery systems, etc. How much of the current cost is labor that will be replaced by software?
ashishk··on Amazon Flex
I live in Baltimore (after NYC, SF, Boston). Love it here. Downvoted your comment because it is uninformed and adds nothing of value.
ashishk··on Google’s Ad System Has Become Too Big to Control
Anyone else find it ironic that this article has Adsense / Doubleclick ads on it?
ashishk··on Google will launch buy buttons on its search-results pages
If the internet is becoming democratic, what explains the increasing number of new, massive and independent internet businesses?
ashishk··on Show HN: CleverDeck – I built the spaced repetition app I always wanted
Congrats Justin!
ashishk··on Google Web Fundamentals: Monetization
Interesting. Did you eventually get the account re-instated? Seems odd they'd close it without a warning. Did they disable the sites or the entire account?
ashishk··on Google Web Fundamentals: Monetization
Sorry to hear this. What were the properties? What was the full reason for the closure?
ashishk··on Ask HN: Who started something in 2013/14 which is already profitable?
pretty awesome accomplishment. are your users in india as well? how are you monetizing?
ashishk··on Laravel Forge – PHP Platforms On Linode, DigitalOcean, AWS, Rackspace
How are OS limits/configs (such as open file limits, connection limits, etc.) handled? Can these be specified in the web panel?
ashishk··on Techcrunch visitors halve in 12 months

ashishk··on Hacker News Facebook Group
Ahh. Weird.
ashishk··on Hacker News Facebook Group
You should make it open. (or approve my request to join :)
ashishk··on A/B testing significance calculator (spreadsheet in Excel)
If you're interested in a web-based calculator, I've found this one to be useful: http://www.usereffect.com/split-test-calculator
ashishk··on Treehouse (YC S08) has the simple sharing mechanic that Facebook needs
Third, if you include Vidly/Tweetvid.
ashishk··on Jason Calacanis' Warning To Y Combinator Startups [video]
Sorry, I meant to downvote (not upvote) you.
ashishk··on HN Dinner Party: Sat Mar 13th, Mill Valley, CA, I will be cooking
Man I'm jealous. Anyone interested in doing this in Boston?
ashishk··on My Startup (WindyCitizen) named one of Chicago's New Essentials
Thanks!

Do you mind sharing how much commission you pay your ad sales person?

ashishk··on My Startup (WindyCitizen) named one of Chicago's New Essentials
Could you elaborate on your experiences of building out an ad sales program/team?

How much traffic did you have when you started selling ads? What type of CPM are you able to see?

The reason I ask is that I run a niche community site that gets a decent amount of pageviews but I'm not sure how much I could make by selling ads against it.

ashishk··on Ask HN: Access to PG?
Yeah I should have clarified. I actually do have a handful of smart advisors that have helped me out a great deal. I probably wouldn't have any chance of succeeding if I didn't have their help along the way.

I also have competitors' SEC filings, my usage/conversion stats, etc. that guide me in the right direction at a granular, day to day level.

But I've been reading PG's essays for some time, and wanted to see what he'd think. I definitely don't think a 5 min convo would have an adverse "affect" [sic].

ashishk··on Ask HN: Access to PG?
Thanks!
ashishk··on Conduct a short coding interview, remotely
looks cool, though i feel like etherpad (now open sourced) solves this problem
ashishk··on Google Acquires Aardvark For $50 million
Yes, but instead of waiting for a response, the answer arrives in your IM window seconds later
ashishk··on Google Acquires Aardvark For $50 million
It's good with niche questions that only a human could help with. I've had luck with social questions ("where's the yscraper located?") and tech questions ("why's my jscript [code here] breaking in IE6?"). It's like stackoverflow, but "real-time" and not limited to coding questions only.
ashishk··on Google Acquires Aardvark For $50 million
I'm interested to see how this develops. I'd hate for google to drop the ball (a la dodgeball, omnisio, etc.). Vark is such a unique, useful service.
ashishk··on A wedding gift for our co-founder became our startup's newest product.
wow what a great idea! nowhere close to getting married, but i'd love to have this at my wedding.
ashishk··on Ask HN: Do you need angel funding?
Would this be considered a public stock offering? I remember learning in class that this sort of stuff (seeking funding publicly on the web) may result in some legal trouble. I may be wrong though.
ashishk··on Why tech companies never pay out their earnings as dividends
I think the issue is that often tech company founders / management have preferred shares and therefore greater voting rights than general common stock shareholders. So even if a large group of common shareholders wanted to see dividends, they wouldn't have much authority.

I may be wrong though, I'm just starting to learn more about corporate finance.

ashishk··on Ask HN: Review my Startup - imVOX
From a design perspective, I would suggest the use of softer colors. The current blues and greens used look like (cheap) neon lights.
