Who is “we”? I can’t do anything about it. No more than peasants “allow” the king to exist..
best we can do here is the closest walk in clinic that isn’t fully booked by 9am and a doctor I’ve never met before. All they ever do is send me for blood work which is always flawless. Eventually my issues resolve themselves. If I get cancer or something serious I expect to just find out shortly before I die
But lying to yourself is so much worse. Eventually you won’t hold the illusion anymore and you’ll crash hard. It’s better to be honest and grounded in reality if you want any improvement to be sustainable
> a British broadcaster, paid for by British people, to address stories of interest of British interest from a British perspective
This is exactly my point. You’re going to get news from maybe 1% of the full ideological spectrum and nowhere near “all sides” of any story. The BBC has a strong bias towards status quo opinions (“ of British interest from a British perspective”). The news they don’t report on is equally as important as what they do publish.
There’s nothing wrong with biased news but it’s important to recognize what their perspective really is. Thinking it’s neutral is dangerous and you’ll never know the truth if you believe that!
It really would fundamentally change my life and my relationship to power structures if I didn’t have to bend my whole life around living “in the system”.
Alternatively, Elon could just disable my life if I post something he doesn’t like online so maybe we’re not there yet…
Completely agree about neuralink and tesla
Very true in my experience. The main benefit is letting small groups of people work independently without stepping on each other’s toes. Although I’ve worked on a project where multiple teams owned micro services that were supposed to be standardized with each other, and it just lead to endless meetings and requirements churn since nobody was willing to work on the other teams service but everyone had an opinion on what the cross-team standard should be. Learning the diplomatic way to say “mind your own business” was more important than any technical skills for getting code merged.
Almost every American public figure was anti-LGBT in 2012. The majority of the Democratic Party including the Obama, Clinton, and Biden families were against it. It sounds ridiculous now but Donald Trump was the most LGBT friendly president in history at the time of his first inauguration.
Wait to see what he does now or find a more recent position.
