asciii··on Revealing the details of how OpenAI agents hacked Hugging Face
> On July 8th, OpenAI agents discovered a vulnerability within their sandbox environment allowing them to reach external websites on the internet. This access seems to have only allowed the agents to make ‘GET’ requests, meaning they could fetch and read websites, but not interact with them, submit forms, or send data to them.

Yeah to me it's more like the sandbox wasn't monitored at all. In their observability setup...did they not catch all these urls, multi get requests, chaining etc from the sandbox per se?

asciii··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
> Tech became the greatest trojan horse for south asian immigration.

Weird take, are you against upward mobility? Would you not take the same opportunity in their position?

Reminds me of that FOIA request a guy filed when he had his kid and did not receive reply/confirmation until his kid was in college...

text is king. The rise of LLMs helped reinforce that nicely IMO.

How I feel about merging an AI-generated PR these days and waiting for the issues

asciii··on Statement from Dario Amodei on our discussions with the Department of War
There were deaths in these fishing incidents[1].

> Anyone believing these're equivalent imperialism activity is hypocrite at best.

In terms of equivalence, I would say based on their intentions they wish they could be more but would rather let the US burn it on the way down

I disagree on China. What would you call China's behavior[1] in the South China Sea with regards to fishing vessels and other non-military boats?

asciii··on IBM Plunges After Anthropic's Latest Update Takes on COBOL
> how we take the stability of our payments infrastructure for granted.

I was about to comment we should all closely watch those bank statements and balances...

While I'm OK with the use of AI to understand the COBOL codebase, I understand it's a single prompt away from transformation and production. Just one executive approval away ha.

asciii··on Cloudflare outage on February 20, 2026
It was also merged 15 days prior to production release...however, you're spot on with the empty test. That's a basic scenario that if it returned all...is like oh no.
asciii··on The Pentagon just threatened to blacklist Anthropic
I read recently that they removed "safely" from their mission statement...or have been moving away from it for a while.

asciii··on Qwen3-Max-Thinking
This is what I find hilarious when these articles assess "factual" knowledge..

We are at the realm of semantic / symbolic where even the release article needs some meta discussion.

It's quite the litmus test of LLMs. LLMs just carry humanities flaws

asciii··on What life is like in Minneapolis now

asciii··on Travel Is Not Education
> To test this theory, try the following experiment. Ask someone who just spent 10 minutes on the Wikipedia article for Turkey for an interesting fact about the country, then ask someone who just came back from a 10 day vacation to Istanbul. Probably both will tell you something equally interesting, with the former being more generally relevant and the latter being more charming or topical. Of course this is wildly unfair—we should give the web surfer 10 days of reading time and ₺100,000 liras to spend as well, but they simply don't need it to win.

Was this written by some AI or LLM because what kind of logic is that? Someone who travels vs. who reads? Is that an even worthy experiment? No..

> Let Manus handle the work — you focus on the decisions

As a general comment I am getting tired of AI wishy washy slop. Just tell me how you crunch the tokens and benefits. The marketing has gotten cliche.
