People keep saying lithium batteries loose capacity and stuff but less energy dense chemistries than the one in your mobile phone fare better in an automotive setting.
Big automotive companies had all the time in the world to come up with the tech of the future but they squandered the opportunity. Upstarts seem to be poised to eat their cake.
* My immune system would work much better without having to deal with all the pollution so I wouldn't get sick as often.
* I would be able to commute work by bike if I wouldn't have to inhale that much smoke during such an intensely aerobic activity. I wouldn't need public transport that much either.
* I wouldn't have to consume fuel (or charge for that matter) when there is a jam.
* I would feel and think much better if I don't have blood full of CO. Less reason for costly vices that forces me to feel only slightly better.
If I have to put a figure, I estimate ~$150 monthly savings minimum for my current lifestyle which is nothing to sneeze at personally.
The thing is, android doesn't really need a marketing blitz as big for alternative languages to be usable. dex converter did well enough on jvm bytecode.
I have no stakes in the gun kit regulations so I couldn't care less if they ban them or not but banning machines would be akin to banning chef knives just because you are not working in a restaurant and the knife can potentially be used to stab. Have fun slicing tomatoes with a butter knife. IMO they are regulating the wrong parts of the equation deliberately and have no intention to alienate large swaths of certain demographics. I am only interested in this debate's entertainment value, so popcorn it is.
I don't see a machine ban on the horizon.
