arprocter··on PS5 Relapse Exploit
Might've been 'PS5 Linux lead quits: "a bunch of noobs using LLMs" that "they don't understand"'

arprocter··on Xcancel and Nitter have been taken down
Thanks for the site - Whac-A-Mole it is, then

Fortunately their URLs aren't obfuscated, so it works with Redirector

Funny you mention the cricket

In the HBO miniseries Generation Kill the marines are tuned into the beeb long wave to get news updates, and there's a cricket score read out in the first episode

arprocter··on Linux on Older Hardware: The Complete Revival Guide
Nice to see BunsenLabs getting some love - smooth way into a GUI Debian

I prefer Boron over the more recent Carbon due to some of the panel changes (although presumably this is all configurable somewhere)

https://ddl.bunsenlabs.org/ddl/

Boron also probably requires this fix:

arprocter··on Ask HN: Anthropic banned me from using Claude Code and I don't know what to do
Went through similar with my PlayStation account about a decade ago - couldn't figure out how to switch it from a UK card to a US one

Tried a few things, but eventually just gave up and opened a new account (fortunately I hadn't made many purchases)

arprocter··on GrapheneOS user reported to authorities for using GrapheneOS
Allowing people to hide their history was an awful decision imo

arprocter··on Microsoft to force updates to Windows 11 25H2 for PCs with older OS versions
Forcing it does seem a little excessive

Still, I'm confused how a machine on H24 hasn't already gone to 25 via regular updates

Are there a bunch of folks who've been hitting 'don't upgrade now' since late last year?

arprocter··on Microsoft to force updates to Windows 11 25H2 for PCs with older OS versions
Something that might work is downloading the current ISO, then mount it and run the setup
arprocter··on Microsoft to force updates to Windows 11 25H2 for PCs with older OS versions
I'm far from a MS apologist, but this is upgrading a soon-to-be-unsupported version of Windows 11 to the current version
arprocter··on I love my dumb watches
I've had mixed luck with that auto 31 jewel Vostok movement - one still going strong (although it did have to be sent back to RU for attention), and another that completely gave up the ghost

Prior to certain geopolitical events they could be had for under three figures, which is a steal if you got a good one

The danger with the older ones is that the rubber seals might be toast - if it's an Amphibia this kind of defeats the object of a dive watch

arprocter··on 10% of Firefox crashes are caused by bitflips
>Sometimes I'm amazed that computers even work at all!

Funny you say this, because for a good while I was running OC'd RAM

I didn't see any instability, but Event Viewer was a bloodbath - reducing the speed a few notches stopped the entries (iirc 3800MHz down to 3600)

arprocter··on RAM is so expensive, Samsung won't even sell it to Samsung
Not a bad call, although you'll probably need to upgrade the PSU to add a GPU (if you can find one small enough to fit the SFF case)
arprocter··on RAM is so expensive, Samsung won't even sell it to Samsung
On Dell you'll probably be stuck with the original mobo, and their SFFs don't take standard PSUs
arprocter··on Unpowered SSDs slowly lose data
I got bit by this. RMA'd the bad drive and the replacement hasn't had problems (iirc it was made in a different country to the faulty one)

arprocter··on UK bar bans solo-drinkers to 'protect customers'
I meant it seems contradictory that they'll let loners in at 8:50pm, but when the hour hits they suddenly start having seizures and hassling people

It'd make more sense to say no singles at all

arprocter··on UK bar bans solo-drinkers to 'protect customers'
The weird thing to me is 'no single entry after 9pm' implies folks by themselves /are/ allowed in before that time

arprocter··on YouTube seems to be down
Site is accessible but videos won't play (NYC)

Not sure if it's related, but looks like the controls are now transparent overlays?

Edit: videos a bit slow to load, but now working again as of 8:02pm EST

arprocter··on Steam can't escape the fallout from its censorship controversy
Funny you mentioned Epic - I bought something there and played it for a while, until one day it just...refused to load

Ended up in a loop of support asking for logs ad infinitum, while ignoring the fact that when I installed the client and game on a separate computer it crashed at the same point. Chalked it up to experience and just decided to not give them any more of my money

arprocter··on Budget Car Buyers Want Automakers to K.I.S.S
When it comes to Wranglers they used to only do 2 doors, but then they introduced the 4 door which is supposedly now 90% of the sales (I'm guessing the extra doors make it easier to compete with other SUVs)

https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelharley/2023/08/30/2023-j...

Anecdotal, but I've also noticed way more 4 door new Broncos and new Defenders around than the 2 doors
