This is a poor attempt at an apology. It just shows how desperately they acted to grow users with little to no regard for user privacy. That’s a typical footprint for a mercenary company, not one who’s mission is to respect its users.
Just look at how Apple apologized about their battery dilemma. Here’s a great way to show you care about your users https://www.apple.com/au/iphone-battery-and-performance/
1- I will personally update site FAQs & about section shortly. I wrote those points when we first launched the app back in 2015 but we're now up to version 47 of the app & a lot has changed.
2- The app is developed by Global team, we all work remotely from Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam & Canada. You can find us all on the map view https://peertal.com/#/map-view
3- As for your point about our code being vulnerable to spam, you might find it more entertaining to read our business principles that we're working on https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jPV7sXWfMRle03U0E6RPdCDY...
If you haven't read this book already I suggest you read it https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13530973-antifragile
Feedback & criticism will only make us better & I can only thank you for that :)
We've developed an algorithm for ranking users similar to how Google ranks pages. This does away with spam & depends on reciprocal endorsements rather than friend requests.
Here's what the map view looks like: https://peertal.com/#/map-view

Once the trust is established we believe this will enable a whole new world of service offerings. Imagine if you could hire a CPA at an affordable rate similar to how you can hire a car today at an affordable rate using Uber.

At this point, I don't know if it's working or if it's failing. Do I stop & pivot because I didn't get a response or should I peruse to try and get a response from the previous 10 before moving along.
What about cases that you get no response? For example I've sent an email or attempted to followup but there's no way for me to get real feedback other than knowing they clicked on the link or they opened the email because they simply don't reply or answer.
It's like going finishing & you know there's fish because they bite but you never manage to hook them. It's so frustrating even though I've changed rods, hooks & bait.
The irony is that you start to second guess as to why you sensed the bite. Was it a false positive? How many could be false positives?
My understanding (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) of it in the context of good websites is
Host: You need a great host/site, something stable & something people want to use
Agent: I consider agents as internal factors like technical, sales & marketing, They help you grow & the ensure stability.
Environment: Environment is pretty much your jurisdiction, you need to make sure that your solution is legal & your environment is supporting of you growing. Another fascinating theory to study around that is the Overton window (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window).
Vector: A vector, an organism which transmits infection by conveying the pathogen from one host to another, with the most powerful agent been word of mouth.
I guess if you have these 4 components structure well, then you have a pretty good chance of having a successful website according to the Epidemiologic Triad.
Now if you're question is more around business models, then heres also another good resource to look into by HBR (https://hbr.org/2016/10/the-transformative-business-model)
The tools make it really easy to put together cool projects for 2016.
I'm not aware of your brothers mental health issues but I can certainty relate. If I find that my mental health is deteriorating I try to do two things. 1- Start the process of cognitive creativity to stimulate my mind 2- Reach out to the world by attempting to solve someones problems
By taking focus away from my world and looking at others, I can better come to self realization and my drive to good use by connecting with others. Often when times are hard you just need to reach out and get a response from anyone. I decided to make this website http://boopoohoo.com that allows for that feedback loop I need to keep going. I don't know the people there and it doesn't get all that much traffic but I check it daily just encase someone has left me a message. A simple thing such as telling a total stranger your opinion on a delama they are having can make a world of difference in their day.
If you ever need to reach out, I'm happy to help.....
