arm32··on "Apple engineer" builds GitHub AI torture chamber to inflict "pain" on models
It's almost certainly just a funny meme, considering these are autoregressive transformers. Now, if they're running on brain cells, that could be a different story.
arm32··on I Could've Accessed 17T Microsoft Records
Now some blackhat somewhere can't afford their monthly Lamborghini payment.
arm32··on Muse.ai gets me kicked off fb marketplace
This made me laugh harder than it should have.
arm32··on Parley: Federated, decentralised chat that speaks plain IRC
That sounds pretty load-bearing.
arm32··on Ask HN: Do you love your job?
I feel like management is finally starting to see the impact of lobbing slop grenades throughout the org. I hope this leads to a more balanced usage of gen-AI.
arm32··on Stay discoverable in search while disallowing AI training
(checks watch)

17 years

Fun lava lamp story, though

arm32··on Stay discoverable in search while disallowing AI training
What does this new setting actually do? Does it block their IP ranges too, I hope? As if Meta, for instance, is actually going to respect Accountable, via themselves or their partners, quite frankly is eyebrow raising at best.
arm32··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
Write the same sentence you just wrote back to me, but in only four words and let’s see if it has the same meaning.
arm32··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026)
Really nice work.
arm32··on Fable 5.1 Solves the Cyphral Distich, a 370-year-old cipher
I just actually solved THE arm32/singularity2001 Hunger Mystery—with the help of GPT-Sol—turns out, I hadn't had my breakfast. A few diagnostics, then BOOM! The _smoking gun_. A fridge sensor, the door unopened, as seen on Home Assistant! OH MY GOD.
arm32··on Dario, Please
I agree with everything the author says here, and additionally, semi-off-topic, I'm surprised how quickly we've moved on from talking about Dario's wife's involvement in the Epstein files.
arm32··on OpenAI Agents API
Yep, and now you can rent your very own "sandbox"!
arm32··on Show HN: Botbin.io – pastebin for AI agent artifacts
You mean a honeypot?
arm32··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
He's definitely got a few extra wrinkles on the forehead now.
arm32··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
In the context of arbitrary line-level traffic, sure. But we're talking about robust reverse proxies here if this _is_ what's going on, again, not a fiber tap inside a closet. In that case, there's no such thing as tee'ing to it.
arm32··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
I can't tell if this is sarcasm. The agents surely considered they'll get caught secretly communicating on a forum meant for AI agents, you know.
arm32··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
Get ready for everybody to act like you’re an unruly and slightly obnoxious kid in the room for having this opinion. I’ve gotten shunned by a few friends in the industry for expressing exactly this to them.
arm32··on GPT-6 Astra
They’re intermediate tokens, so I wish we called it what it is… ITG. The anthropomorphizing is out of control.
arm32··on Grok outage
I have a friend who uses it for pentesting since the cyber guardrails are mere suggestions. Can't imagine what kind of nasty sh*t this model has seen.
arm32··on METR Report on OpenAI / Hugging Face Hacking Incident
They address this in the post itself. The answer is nobody knows, but I guess that it's a 50/50. I wish the corpus of data, what OpenAI didn't wipe, was shared publicly so we could all unite to dig through it and chunk it out accordingly.
arm32··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (September 2026)
Oooo, scandal company!
arm32··on I turned my security cameras into an automatic bird identification system
I’m at a very steady state now years into running a BirdNET-GO instance. Disclaimer: I’m a contributor to the project.

I’m a pretty unhinged sorta engineer, so I actually recently created a 24/7 weather TV channel that combines real-time bird alerts, weather radar, timelapses and a sky cam feed (just a UniFi camera mounted on my home’s roof PV).

https://www.youtube.com/live/sAC3o6KW2N0

Watchable from every TV in the house and shows the birds photo and name when it hears one. Whole thing is a single cursed FFMPEG command.

arm32··on I turned my security cameras into an automatic bird identification system
Love this project, I did something similar. The next step is building a custom frontend for it that’s exactly how your wife wants!

arm32··on The broadcast squeezeback, rebuilt with CSS Grid and WebVTT
Just use OBS and arbitrary HTML web pages, hooked up to a small backend server, in OBS's embedded browser layer type. Easy peasy and a TON of fun!
arm32··on AI;DR (AI; Didn't Read)
This is HW;DR: human-written, did read
arm32··on Expert Witness Used ChatGPT to Write Report Defending Company in Lawsuit
$425/hr to be a sloperator. I wonder if it was worth it.
arm32··on On AI regulation and messaging
This makes him immediately lose all credibility related to common judgement, safety or alignment IMHO.
arm32··on Introducing Toast 1
Damn, now I'm hungry. All this bread talk.
arm32··on SparrowMap – Cameras that watch government vehicles
That's indeed a very fun fact!
arm32··on Ask HN: How's Everyone Feeling Today?
I'm half way there!
