arcatek··on Show HN: A Werewolf bot for Slack
Lycanobot is an IRC bot with much more roles:

arcatek··on Podcasting is getting huge
In what mesure does a podcast compliment a proper article? As far as I see, the only thing that could be missing would be the interactivity (being able to ask question about the parts of the article that we haven't understood and that we would like to clarify), but podcasts don't solve this.
arcatek··on How I wrote a self-hosting C compiler in 40 days
On which parts exactly are you stuck? I've rolled with Ragel as lexer, and Lemon as parser, and it was relatively simple.

arcatek··on What Satoshi Did
I've worked on a coin, and this kind of inexactitude are what make it really hard to understand how the implementation works (that, and the fact that the code was hell at the beginning). If the code uses a "less-than" operator, just tell it. It makes no sense to use a different terminology (in this particular case, the "number of leading zero" concept was probably used to make it easier to understand for business guys - it doesn't work quite well).
arcatek··on The secret message hidden in every HTTP/2 connection
Not actually requiring something to start with a fixed string doesn't really mean anything when every message begins with a fixed string because it's just the way to do.
arcatek··on JSMESS Achieves a Hero’s Death
If you just want something to manage your game library, you can use my project, Start9.io (http://start9.io). We currently support GB, GBC & GBA games, and I plan to add SNES support as soon as I can spare some time.

As for the emularity project, I can only advise you to use my Virtjs devices* in order to give modularity to your users at virtually no cost.

The Emscripten SDL implementation is nice, but not easy enough to interact with when it comes to an actual project rather than a proof of concept. Good luck!

arcatek··on How PostCSS became 1.5x faster by changing 2 lines of code
Probably (or maybe by setting `null` .. i'm not sure how engines deal with changing data types). `delete` implies that the underlying object schema has to change. It's an heavy operation.
arcatek··on Pokedex.org: a progressive webapp for Pokémon fans
Just know that Nintendo already shutdown a lot of Pokédex apps just like yours (a friend of mine was the main dev for one of them).

I don't agree with them, but I guess it would be better for you (and the project) if you couldn't be traced back.

arcatek··on Google Star Wars Easter Egg
Doesn't seem to work at all on Firefox. Strange.
arcatek··on Node.js 5.0 Released
Yes and no.

You can still do something like:

    foo(... Object.keys(dict).map(name => dict[name]))
(Maybe someday you might be able to use Object.values() to achieve the exact same thing without needing to use .map)

However, the spread operator doesn't match the argument names to the object names. So the above call would mean the following:

    foo(4, 6)
And not what you'd like:

    foo(undefined, 4, 6)
However, note that you can rest an object too:

    let x = { a : 1, b : 2, c : 3 };
    let { a, ... rest } = x;

    console.log( ... rest ); // { b : 2, c : 3 }
arcatek··on Webwatch
I assume that this program kinda works like "curl <page> | grep <string> && mailx -s 'Match' <email> <<< 'matched'".

Useful when you want to periodically check if a page changed - I already used a similar thing to get concert tickets before anyone else.

That being said, I feel like a browser extension might be more useful than a command line script, for this particular use case.

arcatek··on Show HN: A WebGL-based Complex Expression Parser and Plotter
Note that you can apparently use the `t` variable to express time.

Ex: t*z

arcatek··on Show HN: Turn a Google Spreadsheet into an API
That's nice - I've recently made a small project to wrap Github's Gists around an open API[1] for the same use case - a small open database easily browseable -, but your project seems much more interesting - spreadsheets are a very interesting way to solve this. Good job.

arcatek··on Stack Exchange Is Now Stack Overflow
I still remember this "trick", where you just had to go at the extreme bottom of the page to see the comments that were hidden only a few scrolls above. Never understood why.

Despite this trick, I don't remember finding any solution to my issues on this website.

arcatek··on AirConsole – Your browser is the game console, your smartphone is the gamepad
And me too :) Except that it's not a server that you have to run: it's a cloud application where you can host your games to play them later (using either your keyboard or your smartphone as controller)

arcatek··on Randexp.js: Create random strings that match a given regular expression
I've made a node package that does the same thing, a few years ago: https://github.com/arcanis/pxeger

I mainly used it to generate test mail addresses. For example, the following will generate 36 test email addresses:

    (blue|red|yellow|green).(oak|cedar|willow)@(yahoo.co.uk|google.com|example.org)

arcatek··on No Cheating Allowed
The post title is a bit misleading, then. The way I see it, it's more like a bug they fixed (since people could legitimately lose their connection and have their hint count wrong) rather than a real no-cheat policy.
arcatek··on Fuzzysearch: Tiny, fast fuzzy searching for JavaScript
In other languages (such as PHP), the same thing can sometimes be achieved by using "break N" / "continue N", where N is the number of loop you wish to break/continue.
arcatek··on Implementing a Virtual Machine in C

arcatek··on Implementing a Virtual Machine in C
Even without inlining? Since the compiler cannot know what instruction will be called, it cannot inline it in the loop.

I think you're talking about module loaders[1]. I remember seeing on es-discuss that they have been postponed to ES7.

arcatek··on Optimizing an Important Atom Primitive
Interestingly, both Sublime Text and Atom are two programs that I absolutely cannot use over X11 forwarding without noticeable lag ... Even if the OS and the X server are on the same local machine.

arcatek··on Show HN: Universal Pause Button
Is Diablo III single player? When I played it at the release, connecting to a remote server was required (which is a shame, btw. I will miss the modding community that Diablo II had).
arcatek··on Show HN: Universal Pause Button
Sure, the issue is that even if you don't use it, the simple fact that it is running in the tray may be enough for an anti-cheat to trigger. Just something to keep in mind.
arcatek··on Show HN: Universal Pause Button
That's interesting. However, I wonder ... don't you think it can be abused in some games that try to compensate lag? For example, what if they use a code similar to:

  delay = currentFrameTime - lastFrameTime
  playerPosition += direction * delay
I know that some games (such as Diablo III) may automaticallt ban you if you happen to run a program that may be used to cheat (they detect that via a background process check).
arcatek··on Inside the World's Biggest 'Magic: The Gathering' Tournament
The author didn't really went into detail. This tournament was the biggest one in history, but not just for Vegas alone. WotC actually set up three tournaments in three cities accross the world (Vegas, Utrecht, Chiba), the same day. Utrecht and Chiba had around 4,000 players each, and Vegas 11,000.

Utrecht was really well organized. It was the first 'pro' tournament I was attending, and everything went quite smoothly. I strongly advise you to do it if you have a chance (especially during those kind of monstruous events, which may be a bit less pro-oriented than usual).
