It looked easy and nice at the beginning, but quickly became a nightmare when they did mistakes for half of our employees. Once mistakes were done, it became harder and harder to contact their customer service. The rep was nice but completely ignorant.
It's sad to see that Gusto/Zenpayroll, who provide a very high quality service, doesn't grow as fast as Zenefits.
When we signed up with Zenefits, they did a mistake for 4 employees out of 9 and it took 6 months to fix things. I missed an important treatment because I didn't have the right plan and it didn't cover what I needed. Zenefits told us it was Blueshield's fault, and... as you can guess, Blueshield said it was Zenefit's mistake.
Eventually though, I decided to stop using it because I'm not confortable with having all my messages stored by "one more" entity in the cloud. Back to good old IMAP with all the pain it brings.
I'm often wondering if such an API could work in a full end to end encrypted mode, i.e. messages would be encrypted as they arrive before they are stored on the server, and only the client would have the key to decrypt them.
Yes Jobs had Apple and Pixar, and Musk has Tesla and SpaceX. But both Pixar and SpaceX don't really require day-to-day CEO attention, they follow long term plans (movies, rockets). That's really different from Square and Twitter, which are both, in their own ways, in a kind of trouble.
I'd love to be proven wrong though -- so good luck, Jack!
"The basis of the HyperLogLog algorithm is the observation that the cardinality of a multiset of uniformly-distributed random numbers can be estimated by calculating the maximum number of leading zeros in the binary representation of each number in the set. If the maximum number of leading zeros observed is n, an estimate for the number of distinct elements in the set is 2^n."
- Capture the investors' attention -- they'll have to remember your company among dozens
- Make them curious to hear more -- you want them to reach out and ask for a meeting
None of these requires a big number of slides, or for that matter, time to go through the pitch. Most entrepreneur do a simple mistake and try to put everything that's relevant to their project in the pitch.
100% true.
We've used Zenefits for one year and it was very, very painful. It looks like self-service, but whatever you do in the UI is then processed manually. Out of 10 employees, 6 got big mistakes in their benefits. I had to delay a treatment because I was not sure I would be covered. It tooks 6 months to get everybody's benefits right.
On April 30, 2014, we announced the deprecation of the XMPP Chat API
as part of the release of Platform API v2.0.Only caveat: I've sold SaaS to large enterprises (like AT&T, Coke, etc.) for ten years, and unfortunately most of them insisted that we use THEIR template, which was a huge pain point for us.
Brace yourself, it's about 1000 thousand pages, sometimes very technical. The post I translated is a very short summary.
Dan opened the talk with the history of ketchup and how the language of food can expose historical revisionism. He then moved on to his research on food marketing and potato chips, sharing that every negative word on a potato chip bag add 4 cents to the cost. Dan wrapped it up with a look at the language of menus and speed dating.
Walking backward in time, Adam discussed the technical
history of Siri as well as how the vision of virtual
personal assistants evolved over time. He wowed the
audience with a video from 1987 on a concept from Apple
where predicted a Siri like device 24 years in the future
and was only off by 2 weeks.
