aptidude187··on ‘Re-education’, forced labour and surveillance beyond Xinjiang
You ignored a crucial question, I repeat: Can you point out explicit segments from the research, which you think are 'biased'?
aptidude187··on ‘Re-education’, forced labour and surveillance beyond Xinjiang
I don't see how the points you made relate to the evidence provided by the research. Can you point out explicit segments from the research, which you think are 'biased'? You just wrote an unconvincing wall of text, talking about random events to somehow make a point that Australia is biased against China, despite their economic dependency on them. This still doesn't make anything coming from a CCP financed source any more credible or trustworthy, being cognisant of the history of the CCP and their never ending lies and manipulation.

I'll check out the Pinebook and Linux Mint, thank you for the concrete suggestions!

> at this point the Linux ecosystem and its various distros can do just about everything Windows and Mac could, this isn't the 90s anymore.

That's good to hear! I used Ubuntu in University for a short while and it seemed quite well developed, the problem was that I was bound to some tools that were only available on Windows/Mac, such that I couldn't adopt it as my main OS. Anyways I appreciate your constructive input, thanks.

Fantastic actionable advice, I heard that they assembled the trash can mac pro in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately not any longer tho, if I am not mistaken. Thank you for your advice!

Thank you for your constructive input, this sounds very reasonable. I'll try to keep that in mind and will try to desist buying new hardware until Apple addresses this.

By 'other side' you mean....the CCP: "CGTN is funded in whole or in part by the Chinese government."
aptidude187··on ‘Re-education’, forced labour and surveillance beyond Xinjiang
As an Apple fanboy, I feel deeply conflicted to find Apple on the list and also Tim's approval & visit to one of the factories exploiting forced labor. I feel like a hypocrite, who supports human rights abuses through forced labour.

All the years I stubbornly rejected my friend's and colleague's criticism from the open source & linux community for being eccentric and making 'exaggerated' arguments, but now I am so deeply engrossed in the Apply ecosystem, that I fear a switch to some linux distribution would be unmanageable for me.

Ironically I feel like a slave of Apple myself. What could I do tho? Switch to some other brand and then find out, that they operate with the same unethical behaviour!? I'm just deeply conflicted.

1. The answer to that is already given right above you, won't repeat myself.

2. Deceptive framing on your part. The thread is obviously brigaded by people with a conflict of interest, don't insult my intelligence. The overwhelming majority of answers there are by people, who live in Israel and have no qualifications to answer the question in an unbiased manner. Have you even read some of the answers there? Obviously not, otherwise you wouldn't try to defend the indefensible.

aptidude187··on UN rights office reports on business activity in occupied Palestinian territory
I have no interest in joining your semantics game. Quoting an unqualified biased person, who lives in the mentioned region and has a track record in defending a right wing zionist position, which opposes the established international consensus and historical evidence, to rewrite history, is deceptive.
aptidude187··on UN rights office reports on business activity in occupied Palestinian territory
Referencing a Quora statement from "Avinoam Ben Dor, lives in Israel,a Tour Guide"... You are pushing a false right wing zionist narrative, those settlements are illegal under international law. The documented history[0] is evidence of that.

aptidude187··on My Emacs Productivity Tricks/Hacks
Thank you molteanu for chiming in. I would also add, that everything has the exact same interface, meaning I can access every tool in the same way, the consistency is unparalleled. For example: In VSC when I want to use the shell, I suddenly lose my vim bindings and thus drop down to the casual user mode. In Emacs I can treat the shell like any other buffer, apply all my tools and knowledge, so it's nothing foreign or something that wants to be treated differently. For instance similar point in VSC regarding the file explorer, it forces you to abandon the keyboard homerow, I can't use my vim bindings from the plugin, because the plugin is something 'foreign'. Sure you can memorise shortcuts, but it's not the same as using your vim bindings for everything, always.
aptidude187··on My Emacs Productivity Tricks/Hacks
I used to think that Emacs is some weird editor with absurd keybindings, until I learned lisp and understood what makes it so special. Now Emacs (Spacemacs[0]) is my main driver.

Absolutely love the idea, will do the same thing in the future! Since I started remapping many keys with Karabiner, I became annoyed that the spacebar is so huge and wished that they had added more keys instead. The Japanese keyboard looks fantastic for my purposes. Thank you very much!

Poor Israel, can't even dehumanise, colonise a people, drive them out of their homes and kill them without being criticised. You are dishing out the same old washed out propaganda and people know it's utter bullshit. Israel is the coloniser and the oppressor no matter how hard you push your propaganda, people can see the evidence from too many sources now, even secular jewish ones.

aptidude187··on Ex-NSA man slams Israel for strike on alleged Hamas cyber attackers
"this is such a long and convoluted conflict" - Not really, this is just a simple case of settler colonialism, anyone who claims that this is a "complex" conflict is either ignorant or deliberately trying to confuse people.

Recommended reading from Theodor Herzl (founding father of zionism) to Noam Chomsky (secular jewish intellectual) for those who are truly interested in the facts:

aptidude187··on Ex-NSA man slams Israel for strike on alleged Hamas cyber attackers
That's complete nonsense. Not that I used "zionist as a derogatory term" to being with, but even if I did, that wouldn't make me a racist, because zionism is a nationalistic ideology, you like to conflate with judaism in order to be able to silence any criticism of unjust actions by falsely accusing people of being anti-semitic. There are probably even more evangelical christian zionists than one might expect, does that make me christianophobic as well, or is the victimhood only reserved for people from your group? Either way, I love the jewish people, but I oppose injustice, your 'arguments' are really childish.
aptidude187··on Ex-NSA man slams Israel for strike on alleged Hamas cyber attackers
Where exactly are your arguments tho? Accusing people of being anti-semitic neither makes them anti-semitic nor does it make you automatically right on the issue. The burden of proof is upon the accuser, you. The anti-semitism card really lost its power because you cried wolf falsely too many times, as illustrated here.
aptidude187··on Ex-NSA man slams Israel for strike on alleged Hamas cyber attackers
The rule across all media is to always precede reports of Israeli killing of Palestinians in Gaza with a number of rockets, even if 24 hours before said rockets Israel has snipered unarmed protestors attempting to practise their Right of Return as guaranteed by UN Resolution 194. Anyone who has an iota of knowledge about what's going on there knows that continuous building of settlements by Israel and the daily harassment the Palestinians have to endure is the root of the problem.[0] I truly wonder if there's anyone who isn't completely ignorant on the issue, who still buys the zionist talking points.

Interesting how people were 'outraged' about 1 missing Journalist and flooded HN with articles about how evil the government of Saudi Arabia is ( which I agree with ) , but a more serious crime like genocide leaves HN disinterested. I think your description is misleading when you start talking about no-go zones refering to a statement[0] from Angela Merkel without mentioning by which group this is supposed to be created by and then go on to talk about refugees, which suggests that they created it, when in fact those no go zones are upheld by racist violent right wingers who just attack about anyone who looks non white and foreign. I am living in Germany near those areas so I can differentiate fact from fiction.
