Me and my friend were fans of LinuxForU magazine, now OpenSourceForU. I once wrote a reply or so and it was printed in next edition. Inspired by that, we wrote an article, a simple one. That too was printed in next edition. We got a little money also from it, I think.

Not sure of the co-operatives in software. I am from state of Kerala, India. We have a number of very successful and long running co-operatives.

1. Milma - Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing federation. Virtually every household uses and trusts milma. It has been around for 53 years.

Developer here. Its much easier and a lazy way to enable for everyone, rather than tracking ips, citizenship and show accordingly. Developers are lazy.

I think around 7-8 years back, a VPN with ipv4 was $1.5 per month more expensive than one with ipv6 only. It should have been much more now.

Note that it didn't end very well for India. The initial claims are conveniently forgotten and people just suffered. More than 99% of the currency got returned anyway, contradicting government's claims.
aneeshnl··on The best engineering interview question I've ever gotten
Interviewer here.

When a programmer goes through a question fast and jumps right into the solution, there is two possibilities. One is candidate already knows the question. Two is candidate is exceptional programmer. If the other part of the interview doesn't match up to this, then we will assume the first case.

I definitely place candidates who are being honest upfront above others. They will be reliable and trustworthy, which is important quality for programmers.
