I've tried http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer from my Nexus One and it still says, "Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is coming to Anroid 2.0 and future releases in the first half of 2010", so I guess it's the former...
Others are doing it.. http://www.salesforce.com/platform/ - I suppose it's not unreasonable to assume AWS will provide something similar (but slightly better in some way I'm guessing!)
I have a small 3 year-old walk into my bedroom ~6am every day and jump up and down on the end of the bed saying, I want to have breakfast/watch Bob the Builder/brush the baby's teeth..
Funnily enough, this perfect alarm-clock never fails to wake me up!
..exactly, like the time they claimed it was faster and cheaper travelling from London to Brussels and were in breach of advertising standards. I think they were on CNN, BBC, Ch4 etc.. every hour to get their point across. Damn fine advertising strategy.
..hmm, very interesting considering Justice Eady's track record. Read almost any Private Eye edition and they'll mention some bizarre ruling he has made.
Not always, although I know where you are coming from. Pretty soon you can find out whether they're someone you can "go over the trenches" with, no matter what size they might look.
I do something similar; get a first draft out quickly so I'm not inhibited by grammar, sentence structure, logical flow etc.. then perform a second parse to tighten everything up. Interestingly, I sometimes find I almost completely reverse the passage I've written! It's as if my brain performs some sort of initial stackdump to convey my thoughts.
On reading this, I am reminded of the decision by the BBC not to broadcast the Gaza fundraising appeal on the grounds of it affecting its reputation for impartiality.
Dunno - there is just one option to ship via UPS.. was surprised also; bit like using those cashpoints and then getting prompted for an extra 2 quid at the end only..err..quite a bit more.
...had to add somethng here as I am a big fan of the NHS.
In an increasingly litigious profession, the doctor must've known the consequences had something gone wrong and acted in spite of those career threatening risks - shows true courage.
I hope (although doubt) this helps to stop the practice of defensive medicine where lawyers' concerns take priority over patients' needs.
Yeah, its a little off topic, but visting a hospital always puts my building a web-application into perspective!
I tried these out for converting image-only PDFs, but the installation was getting ever more complex and unstable. I made a time-is-money decision and purchased Vividata - *nix based command line utility - which is a shame as I would've liked to have got these working. Almost all the other products were Windows based - urrgh!
If anyone has a different experience, I'd be pleased to hear from them...
My immediate thought was hacker is an artist to the engineer's pragmatist... getting something to work is more important than its beauty, elegance or how few LOC are used, rather than something that is ..err.. hacked together(!?)
I quite agree - we're bootstrapping too. I'm contracting during the day at the moment to pay for mortgage, food etc.. But when I'm stuck on something coding late at night, I've got the whole next day to chew over the best way forward then attack it again in the evening.
I work in my own time, but I think about problems on the client's time.
Strange as its increased my productivity.
Kids do take up a load of time, but its been THE most focusing effect of my life :-
1. Any spare time I have, I work immensely hard - no creativity suites with bean bags for inspiration; no procrastination on which direction I take or how elegant/short my code can be. If it works, its in.
2. My product (or subsequent ones) HAS to succeed. I'm simply working to keep a roof over our heads and now have another mouth to feed. "Necessity is the mother of all invention" a smart chap from across the pond once said.
In short - I do not suffer from motivational problems.
Totally agree - its not cheap like good old Rusholme or some Brummie establishments, but still a great feast...
Can't believe it - UK based hackers who love curry, love it.. in the words of Highlander, "We are brothers!"
