this is an absolutely insane take
I'm not sure what side are you talking about here.
Oh quit clutching your pearls, he was perfectly civil.
You're the one trying to downplay things we know weren't at all covered in full by these emails (and we've known that for quite a long time). And know about them since you're downplaying them in other comments in this thread (things like exploring the quizz apps and how Facebook knew CA had exploited the API since 2015, how CA initially said the data was for academic purposes, etc).
The latter part of your comment ("how far should we go, the invention of the printing press?") shows me you're not only crying about being corrected but being disingenuous to push a narrative based on lies. Since you're doubling down and running cover for Facebook/CA/Trump's campaign all over the thread it suggests there's more than plain stupidity and dishonesty as motives.
this is a religious belief, maybe you should stop to really examine that (because it might be unintentionally so), but just know that it is obvious to anyone reading these words (anyone who is not mesmerized by technology)
this shouldn't be right, wtf
Isn't it clear to you that you're misrepresenting DSA's position?
why oh why are giving them the benefit of the doubt? There was in fact a twirled moustache executive.
> Internal chats within the company stated, “Oh good, we’re going after <13 year olds now? Zuck has been talking about that for a while…targeting 11 year olds feels like tobacco companies a couple decades ago (and today). Like we’re seriously saying ‘we have to hook them young’ here.”
> Even after determining internally that teen safety was a massive problem on its platforms, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “teen time spent be our top goal of 2017.”
> One internal email from September 2018 indicates that, according to Meta, “The lifetime value of a 13 [year old] teen is roughly $270 per teen.”
I didn't see it mentioned yet and maybe there are valid reasons for that happening that I'm not aware of.
Also, discussing the thread in itself seems more relevant than how hard/confusing/woke you find a language.
I'm not here making a call to action or trying to police the thread, if anyone want to go off topic be guest.
1. the "I used nix once/some time ago but I realized it's stupid/hard/whatever"
2. anime pfps/furries/trans/woke are bad
3. complaining about CoC/governance/etc
Irrespective of whatever the posted article is about relating to this technology. This is one of those threads.
Nix seems to have one of the worst discussion quality around here. Rust threads are similar (though they got better recently), specially on the negative unrelated comments side, but seem to have much more engaged people. Maybe Anubis has a similar ratio. I wonder why?
the later would not be affect by betting on clinical trials being allowed or prohibited, so I don't think the comparison proves that this would help
