andersonpico··on AMD acquires Taalas to boost inference performance by etching models in silicon
They finally cared about clear requirements and documentation when that meant getting rid of devs.
andersonpico··on Zed DeltaDB
this is the perfect description of how I've seen AI used in most organizations
andersonpico··on Cloudflare OS: an open platform for agents, apps, and work
Thank you for your work over the years, sandstorm is a really interesting and inspiring piece of software. I'll certainly try to self-host CloudflareOS.

netchoice is a lobbying organization for the hyperscalers, you're straight up sharing a propaganda piece
andersonpico··on Netflix employee fired for sharing personal details in retreat trust exercise
Which one? I couldn't find anything in google
andersonpico··on Our position on open-weights models
Consider how much money is at stake: some industries have leveraged their power to lobby for bombing entire countries or topple regimes across the world for much less.

Creating an industry around an elusive concept of safety to force regulatory capture seems pretty straightforward to me.

andersonpico··on Claude Opus 5
that's exactly what I was getting at
andersonpico··on Claude Opus 5
I liked the Opus version better if only because the responsiveness is less broken.
andersonpico··on Claude Opus 5
I agree with most of your comment with one exception: It will never be economically viable to replace kitchen staff with AI.
andersonpico··on Claude Opus 5
What do you mean designs like this? This is 2016-cyberpunk-neon-era inspired by video game interfaces, these are not uncommon at all. Google something like "discord cyberpunk theme" or "cyberpunk rice site:reddit.com/r/unixporn" and you'll find endless examples. This isn't suprising at all obviously.
andersonpico··on Advertise in ChatGPT
there's literally a comment sibling to the one you're responding to saying he wants to PAY FOR ADS. It's really hard to tell satire apart from I WANT TO PAY FOR ADS around these parts.
andersonpico··on Advertise in ChatGPT
> complaints should be be about what is happening

Why would you think that? An ad supported product has misaligned incentives, everyone can see that and that's why the confidence erodes from that moment on.

You're living in the era in which saying "Stallman was right" is a dead cold take. Every big tech company sold out exactly like the hippies told you they would back when Google was a dream place to work for and Meta was still a twinkle in zuk's eyes.

You can't fight this battle in the current judicial system. If before anyone can successfully bring a lawsuit in front of a judge the company has unlimited money, then at least one of these three things will be true:

a. the damages won't make a dent

b. they can throw lawyers at the problem for the win

c. they will have grafted their way into the economy so deeply that no one will want to kill their main source of income

This battle is already lost, if they find economical success then they are untouchable.

andersonpico··on Advertise in ChatGPT
Keep fighting the good fight. Also, offering a counterpoint for the sibling comments: Yandex results are the most valuable for the type of thing censored in all other search engines. If I want to search for news on the war on Ukraine I go anywhere, but the things yandex works for are censored everywhere else.
andersonpico··on Who's afraid of Chinese models?
Every company that I've worked with that provided models internally did so through LiteLLM and offered both Anthropic and OpenAI models so it was trivial to switch between them.
andersonpico··on Gleam Is Now on Tangled
I mean, you could. I've read your blog and it's quite well-written, not only just better-than-know-your-meme. Thank you btw, some really nice reads there.
andersonpico··on What xAI's Grok build CLI sends to xAI: A wire-level analysis
I appreciate the detailed response. It's a very important topic that is often filled with empty platitudes and not enough detail.
andersonpico··on A graph that should be front-page news
this is incredible graph work (despite the bleak subject)
andersonpico··on Ask HN: Are You Hopeful for the Future?
> The Gramsican march through the institutions is complete

what in the ever living conspiracy theory hot pot is that

not even close

> I won the lottery of life, born in the latter half of the 20th century in a British colony with running hot water

but not enough money to treat this deep-seated mental illness?

> It won’t affect me, I’ll be dead in 30 years

thank god or maybe it's too long

andersonpico··on Stop Telling Me to Ask an LLM
That makes sense as well, I think it's a nice human perspective. People really are uniquely tired lately.
andersonpico··on Apple sues OpenAI, accuses ex-employees of stealing trade secrets

andersonpico··on Alibaba to ban Claude Code in workplace over alleged backdoor risks, source says
But distribution isn't the only crime here, obtaining the material illegally apparently is a crime too. And the damn robot can also spit me harry Potter verbatim so I don't know how it would also not be distribution?
andersonpico··on "An AI Job Apocalypse?" – Goldman Sachs Report [pdf]
Not disagreeing, but I wonder how much you have to fuck up to put a trillion dollar company in trouble. Surely it can't be that bad, right?
andersonpico··on Pollen tried to remove my article and Google is assisting with it
after reading yours and themaninthedark comments I understand what you're getting at
andersonpico··on Nano Banana 2 Lite
The difference is you'll get caught a luddite and hear you're opposing progress if you try to get in the way of AI doing any and everything.
andersonpico··on Nano Banana 2 Lite
Announcers get very touchy with listings data, so even compiling listings from multiple sources is hard without getting cease-and-desisted. Then, realtors will certainly flood competing announcements and post fake reviews. It's an aggressive market.
andersonpico··on Nano Banana 2 Lite
Why would that be more useful than fighting this fraud? Surely the original images would be more realistic than one passed through AI two times.

Isn't this screenshot on the article evidence https://storage.ghost.io/c/39/f8/39f85cc7-8637-40fc-a57c-f45... ? Or could it still be the "I can't believe it's not DMCA" you've mentioned?
