interesting question. Maybe because react mainly developed by facebook for facebook and they sorta let us use it?

maybe just the degree to which community participated in development.

maybe react today is where rails was 5-10 years ago in its life. give another 10 years assuming react is still massively used framework, it'll face similar issue. I don't know, interesting question.

I can relate to most of this. agree.

don't want to sound harsh, but articles like this are the reason I don't read much. Maybe it's because English is my second language, so it's on me, but why such epic journey to seemingly say so little. I only read half of it, couldn't go through more. Interesting topic but to me personally, delivery is quite difficult.

Im my professional career I've never worked with dataset large enough where pagination would become difficult to solve. I wonder where are the limits of SQL, Postgres. How do I learn to extract most of rdbms?

but gold doesn't

> But they're out now and the story is over

some say they are, some say they aren't. Is this in fact true?

> WSB doesn't hold the full capitalization of GME

does anybody know how much does wsb hold approximately? very rough number would still be interesting to know.

what is the truth though? As someone who only knows about stocks from 'big short' film and 5min video on youtube and wsb thread. I genuinely curious what are the ways this could play out.

is there a deadline on short sellers to close their positions? what is reasonable limit for the stock to go to? what happens if hypothetically nobody of wsb would sell their stocks?

was looking for this sort of comment to confirm my bias. I'm trying to figure out what is it about how I feel about reflex: the idea that even with this you still have to reach for js libs or am I just being lazy. I guess a little bit of both maybe.

But it's true, even though our app is pretty straight forward crud, we still need things like autocomplete, drag and drop, tabs, modals, form validation etc. Just having js being js and ruby being ruby seems easier for me to parse and work with.

I don't get it. should I not care?

what you describing now becomes low paid work.

1) make a course 2) constantly put in hours supporting it.

in this regard with can take it further and call ourselves slaves of our instincts and desires. (eating, breading etc) in which case word slave loses meaning.

I disagree. slavery is real absolutely immoral thing, while working for money is more about law of energy conservation, something transforms in something else, hence very reasonable and natural.

I learned new thing today. it definitely looks much better.

:)

the downside is you have to 'install' and continuously 'run' a shovel

why not full article title?

P.S point being they are going to lose market share with no good reason.

They spent ton of money to get me to install their app and consider it as an option. There is really no reason for me to use one over the other. Lyft, uber, some random taxi app.. Same drives are coming in the same cars.

Now they are motivating me to look for alternatives and actually give 'some random taxi app' a name.

this combined with "dont attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity" leads me to doubt their professionalism. I think this is a huge mistake. and if it's not a mistake but inability of the company to execute, then that's on executives.

you dont get vacation days. you re not paid for national holidays off days. you dont get sick days.

you may say it’s what contract is. but without me being able to see where to drive, whom to drive and set price as I wish, without affecting my rating - it’s just talk.

very well put. my first impression was “apple is bad”. upon closer examination (reading comments, including yours) this post became much less scandalous. Nothing out of ordinary and, actually, quite reasonable.

Apple is abusive. long words, conversations.

I bought a device but do not control it - it's not legal or it shouldn't be.

I wish these kinds of articles had tldr. does it really need that much text to communicate the point.

I agree. plus, isnt it the case for Mac? you can install apps from other places.

I pay premium for their hardware cause I want to use their software. yet even after I bought it - I somehow dont own it. Im not renting iphone - they have no business telling me which apps to install. market share should be irrelevant in this argument - this is my devise.

I'm not quite sure why apparently accepted english name for the town is Kharkiv, and author wrongly (understandably) pronounces it as Charkovchanka. Yeah, it's hard - no biggie.

just wanted to let those of you who interested to know how to pronounce it is: first 3 characters are same as in word 'harvest' and rest almost the way author pronounces it - kovchanka, so

har-kov-chanka

only r has to be softer. It just sounds so much better

try russian sound ->

hahahha... thank you for this one
