I second this. The word "mandate" is so depressing. This is not military. Go to a better place, where they value you better.

I do 5-3-1 workouts using a spreadsheet and that has been a mess. I really appreciate your solution.

Get a better offer elsewhere. Take that offer or come back to negotiate for a raise. In my opinion, 5 years is a long time in one company and no promotions. Don't waste your time there. Also, you may be a very solid programmer, and not realizing it because the employer never appreciated you enough.

I agree with the sentiment. The business success is not necessarily correlated with the magnitude of the problem they solve. Sewer cleanup companies solve a very big problem, but they just get by. Conversely, MrBeast youtube channel is much more successful and not being really helpful to anybody (one may argue they actually make people waste time)
