aml183··on AngelList acquires Product Hunt
What? Ryan started a newsletter out of a love of discovering new products. I'm sure he was very surprised how popular it became.
aml183··on Ask HN: Please ban links to e-commerce checkout pages and paywalled articles
So articles from the WSJ and NYT should be banned?
aml183··on Ask HN: Should I start my own company after I graduate?
Yes, but I don't know how it will play out since I'll be recruiting under my own brand and not the company brand.
aml183··on I run a small newsletter and I'm trying to get more subscribers. Any advice?
Here is the link: http://www.arilewis.com/newsletter/
aml183··on Ask HN: What is the best email you got from a recruiter?
lol
aml183··on Sourcing as a Service
The low hanging fruit would be just to source in the beginning. As we expand and develop a "platform" we will start doing more recruiting as a service and try to replace the agency recruiter/assist the corporate internal recruiter
aml183··on Sourcing as a Service
Most people send recruiter emails to spam. If a founder or a corporate recruiter reaches out it has much more value.
aml183··on Sourcing as a Service
Interesting thought.
aml183··on Sourcing as a Service
As you know, you still need to be connected with someone on LinkedIn to get their email addresses. I don't think many companies can come up with a list of 100 engineers in 4 or 5 hours with contact information. That is why tons of companies spend money buying databases. A comparable idea in a different space is: https://www.leadgenius.com/
aml183··on Sourcing as a Service
We are way different in the sense that Hired & Whitetruffle still charge 20%, but the company is doing the work the recruiter typically does. It's just a marketplace. WayUP is targeted towards student.

We only do sourcing. https://www.shrm.org/resourcesandtools/tools-and-samples/hr-...

You need to connect with someone to get their contact info and you'd be surprised how hard it is to get emails of engineers.

aml183··on What is everyones thoughts on Ethereum?
I know it's been posted here many times, but Ethereum has had a number of advancements over past week so I assume a lot of opinions have changed.
aml183··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (January 2016)
Seeking work- Cleveland, Remote work is possible.

We do iOS and Web Development.

aml183··on What are some opportunities in residential and commercial real estate?
Most definitely. What you think is the biggest problem that is worth chasing. I don't want to create a full suite of products, but something that targets a small niche to start.
aml183··on Ask HN: Fair terms for CTO position in funded startup?
Do you believe in the founders/investing team? Based on what you are writing, startups should never be LLCs. You should always have 4 year vesting on all the stock. 50% equity in the first round for investor is way too much. These are just a few things that stick out immediately.
aml183··on Ask HN: How do you submit maintenance requests as a tenant?
Can you email me at me@arilewis.com? We are trying to develop a solution to this problem.
aml183··on Ask HN: Is it a good idea to leave school for a year to join a startup?
My bad on lack of detail.

-Pay is most likely $70K. -Job is in SF. -I don't get school credit for this. -Will push my graduation date back either a semester or two semesters depending on how many credits I want to do per semester. -College Fund (Will graduate with no debt)

aml183··on Ask HN: Does anyone know the technology behind Magic?
Can you email me? Our idea is, hire a local "expert" to build your itinerary when you are visiting that local's town/city. Someone posted it on HN and we wanted to run with it. We will use send sonar for the SMS. Interested in integrating some payment solution like you wrote. Email is me@arilewis.com
aml183··on Ask HN: Share an idea?
Hey. We are building #3. Email me at me@arilewis.com if you want to chat about it.
aml183··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
I don't understand this comment. Some of the world's most influential companies started as small, simple ideas. Twitter for example people discounted as just a dumb app where people shared what their cat was doing 24/7. It is now one of the most powerful tools on Earth and sparked a revolution in the Middle East and has given millions of people a way to tell their story to the world.

Based, on your comments nothing is worth building. We should encourage innovation, rather than knock people for just asking a question of what ideas they think are worth building.

aml183··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
Skilled gaming company (Koalah) Not really. Didn't know how to acquire customers. In a market that had too much stigma. It was always associated with gambling even though it was legal. Not a common problem that startups face.
aml183··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
I'd like to discuss these ideas more in depth. Can I email you?
aml183··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
We have been keeping a note book, asking people for problems they face, and looking at problems we face. We just don't like any problems that we have discovered. The best idea so far is creating some sort of AngelList for the LP space or a version of Seeking Alpha for the private equity/venture capital community. Nothing worthwhile yet.
aml183··on Ask HN: Anyone have any good startup ideas?
Thanks for reply. We are all interning this summer, but have a lot of free time. Since we have experience with a startup. We realized that it's not just building the tech, but doing the selling, acquiring users etc.

Now that we know this, we are struggling to find an idea that we can build, but also have time to grow during the school year as well.

aml183··on 1099 workers and the sharing economy
I completely agree. I think that is the hypocrisy of Uber. They are modeling their business and getting politicians to create carve outs specifically for them.
