amerf1··on Launch HN: Twenty.com (YC S23) – Open-source CRM
Congrats on launching! Great tool, love the minimal UI and the "coming soon" features

I've used CRMs for the last 10 years, starting with an internal built CRM for a bank that I worked at and moving on to the salesforce, hubspot etc..

Here's what I've noticed being a user/developer - Users will always complain! If it takes more than 2 minutes to get something done they'd rather not do it

- All CRMs have a learning curve, once users get used to the workflows they're comfortable with, they don't want anything to change. (e.g. when one of the CRMs relaunched with a new UI, a few users refused to use it for a long time)

- Users prefer the work done for them, no one wants to spend time thinking. If you have a library of pre-built workflows it goes a long way. Even better, do all the analysis and let users make a binary decision

This is one space that really interests me, let me know if you wanted to chat. My twitter is in my bio

amerf1··on Show HN: An interactive map showing live wind farm generation in Great Britain
Very exciting project, from a fellow ex-woodmacker. Will get in touch
amerf1··on Launch HN: Livedocs (YC W22) – Live data in your documents, without code
Super cool tool! I noticed the Twitter template for example was only for your own account. Is there a plan in the future to create one for tracking lists or hashtags?
amerf1··on A terminal stock watcher and stock position tracker
Love this! Would love to see more features in there I know someone mentioned charts which is great! Other features could be news/fundamentals! Let me know if you want to brainstorm my Twitter is in my bio. I used to work at a data vendor that competed with Bloomberg have plenty of ideas!
amerf1··on Launch HN: Paragon (YC W20) – Visually Build API Workflows
Firstly congrats on the launch! I am super excited about this I just signed up hoping to get my hands on it and experiment on different things

At $30/month I think its a steal the reason I say this is because for someone to do this with no-code they would probably have to hire a freelancer who would charge them way more than $30 for setting it up and probably no/little support. Love the idea I really think it fills a gap here.

There are several side projects I'm going to try with this

amerf1··on Ask HN: What are some niche or alternative news aggregators worth checking out?
Thank you for the valuable feedback! That was part of the initial idea to get to being a primary source of news and I believe it would require a good user base that is very involved in the energy industry

Are you involved in energy in anyway? Happy to send you an invite! My email is in the bio

Thank you again for the feedback I highly appreciate it!

amerf1··on Ask HN: What are some niche or alternative news aggregators worth checking out?
We’re focused on energy in general, but so far the users have been posting about hydrocarbons as that’s trending now considering where the oil price is now and where it’s headed. What did you think of the website

Let me know if you want me to send you an invite (email in my bio)

amerf1··on Ask HN: What are some niche or alternative news aggregators worth checking out?
We dig deep for links to post on the website, we also aim to acquire a lot of user from all over who crawl for info to post. Also Ants it sounds cool!
amerf1··on Ask HN: What are some niche or alternative news aggregators worth checking out?
Hey I'm the cofounder of EnergyAnts. Its a news aggregator for the Energy industry. We launched during this batch's startup school. Looking forward to some feedback!

Check it out https://www.energyants.com

amerf1··on Lambda School fined $75k by CA for operating without state approval [pdf]
Monday to Thursday 1 hour each Friday off Saturday 8 hours Sunday 8 hours

That’s one example I could think of. The day off could also move around so Monday could be off

amerf1··on Lambda School fined $75k by CA for operating without state approval [pdf]
Having shorter weekday hours and longer weekend hours would make it perfect. I was in the process of registering for the March 2019 data science cohort, however I dropped it as I did not want to take someone else's spot. Could not commit to 3 hours a day (on a week day)

These things happen when you're just getting starting its normal we live and learn.

Just hoping they start a slightly more flexible cohort for people who are working and looking for the next promotion

amerf1··on Show HN: I built a service to discover rapidly growing Google search topics
Thanks Josh, I sent you an email I think you answered most of the stuff here though just came back to the comments now. Would still be great to have a chat sometime
amerf1··on Show HN: I built a service to discover rapidly growing Google search topics
The "flavor of the day" comment really caught my attention, been thinking of a startup between those lines. I think with people having hundreds of decisions to make everyday from a million choices, it would help to answer those questions for the users without them having to spend time deciding.

I mean its great to have review sites, but what should I have for lunch today? what is trending just give me the answer I am happy to pay $5 a month you decide for me. What programming language is trending?

Will look into it at some point, happy to have a chat with anyone who's interested my email is in my profile

amerf1··on Ask HN: MVP using an off the shelf product?
How is your business doing now?
amerf1··on Poll: Would You Pay for Newsletters?
I agree, in both cases I would say you’re paying for the author’s time (to create content or gather articles from the internet).
amerf1··on Show HN: Single Platform to Convert MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB to RESTful API
Superb really love the platform
amerf1··on Ask HN: What are you working on?
Working on a link aggregator for website while learning to code. Any rails mentors out there feel free to reach out to me! I could use some help
amerf1··on MBA vs. Bloomberg Terminal Subscription
Most universities have Bloomberg terminals so you could use them if that is what you were looking for.

I think the real question here is what would generate more value.

I used to work at a company similar to Bloomberg and I can tell you that an individual user who would purchase the terminal subscription is most likely sophisticated enough to be using it at a high level (options, futures, swaps etc..), has a high tolerance for risk and wouldn't mind burning a load of cash "experimenting"

Earning an MBA might get you a better job in the long run, but again you are giving up 2 years worth of income so if you can survive that then why not. I think I would go for the MBA if I had to pick

amerf1··on Poll: Bathroom amenities for your Airbnb rental?
Thanks for the valuable feedback so far. I agree it tends to be a bit expensive. Would love to get additional thoughts

Edit: (Adding the following) From other users

amerf1··on Ask HN: What to do when your side-project takes off?
You know its funny this reminds me of one of the videos I posted on YouTube which went viral and got 2 million views ($0 from advertising)
amerf1··on Ask HN: What to do when your side-project takes off?
This is very valuable info. Never thought of focusing on the latest ones first thats a new perspective

Thank you for your post!

amerf1··on Ask HN: What to do when your side-project takes off?
I agree with that! I was actually looking to hear other peoples experiences
amerf1··on Ask HN: What to do when your side-project takes off?
That is correct I was mainly referring to peoples experiences
amerf1··on Ask HN: Have the YC Spring Hackathon Invites Been Sent?
Thanks!
amerf1··on Ask HN: Would you pay to acquire tenants?
Thank you for your comment!

Sorry I was not very clear in the concept, I tried to make it clearer below

A subscription-based rental service company, we break your lease contract and you pay us. We find you apartments and rent it for you. You pay us not the landlord.

That is a great question on whether the landlord will agree to sublet, but for me as a service company my argument is I have a customer with a good credit rating who is ready to move in to your apartment. I know many landlords who are desperate to get tenants.

The problem is some tenants are ready to move in, but they already have a long-term contract with another apartment. I am here to break it for you, but you pay me

amerf1··on Ask HN: Would you pay to acquire tenants?
True makes 100% sense
amerf1··on Ask HN: Would you pay to acquire tenants?
wow, never heard of that before. It is interesting though. I think long-term leases are going to disappear things are moving too fast and changing very quickly for anyone to commit to long term leases
