This yearly upgrade cycle is terrible. Their phones are fantastic, and now they're stuck in some sort of spiral to push things every year. They could stand to chill out

I got the new 14 Pro, but only because I wanted the mag charger feature. Before that, the 11 Pro was still a solid phone and did everything I wanted and more. Won't be upgrading at least 3 years

So I get that people have issues with lazy doctors who pass out pills like candy. But that's not how ADHD is handled. It requires a diagnosis which takes time, then pills are prescribed from a physiatrist at low doses at first.

As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD in my 40s, it was a great relief and surprise at how effective stimulants work. I have struggled my entire life, and have burned myself out multiple times trying to maintain a balance in my life. There's a huge mental burden every day. Trying to remember what you need to do, remember the best strategies to stay on track, spiking anxiety, feelings of guilt and shame, which can spiral into depression.

These sorts of judgement statements, dismissive words from family or friends, and indifference from the public over mental health has kept many people from seeking treatment for a very wide range of issues.

We need more empathy towards the fact that mental health IS health. We need more insurance support for these issues (because it's expensive!). Furthermore, we need more empathy and support towards those that do get addicted to ANYTHING. Addiction is not limited to drugs.

Starting with the assumption that people are drug abusers is damaging, and is entirely faulty.

Using something like Material UI is always a great idea to get you moving quickly. But eventually you reach an annoyance point once you scale up the number of components you're creating. Especially if you need more customized things. The layers of hacks and work around start to get confusing. And new folks give you lots of WTF comments.

Same reason people build new libraries or languages. They feel limited by the "thing" they're using. :)

My memory of the curated days were that it was a lot similar to what you scroll past now. Lots of niche stuff I didn't care for, but would pause because "someone" thought it was worthy.

They also had less to choose from, so it was easier to surface interesting things.

Only recently learned that crypto jerks will try to abuse free compute during the build step for hosting services

They don't hold up well to repeated side impacts or horizontal shearing. So kids jumping on it, shin kicks, or moving locations. They do well with the vertical forces if they're rarely moved.
