Wagner group (russian private military) which is now busy in Ukraine and lost quite a bit of personnel was actively involved in Sudan. I might be mistaken but they have some interests in gold mining operation which is a shared venture between Sudan and some Russian business.
I don't think my background is important here. But I'm technical if you need to know.
I had first hand experience of colleagues specifically not working on certain parts of projects because of NDA from their previous employments.
I think you are confusing non-compete and NDA, IP rights, non solicitation agreements and the like. You can go work for competitor, but it doesn't allow you to use any of your previous employer's IP, poach colleagues, clients etc. Doesn't prevent you from using your expertise and come up with novel things.
And some big companies do care that you don't do it, because they don't want to go into litigations because layers like to target fat cats.
Fully agree with the view that ё seems out of place and looks like TETЯIS of atari days.
Never the less I think you should be careful when generalizing monarch's name conventions more widely. For example King Charles III is called Karl in Russia according to tradition of using german names for monarchs. I never saw this convention applied to common folk names, and any other Charles would be called Charles e.g. Charles Darwin is never called Karl Darwin.
It is still used in ESP8266 based ESP-01 WiFi boards that people connect to Arduino and the like to make it an IOT device. AT commands that it support allows you to connect to wifi and then establish TCP/UDP.
Can you back that with any numbers? Coming from a large soviet city of the era I wouldn't agree with this statement. People that had western computers I knew were usually children of party officials, prosecutors. The situation changed a lot from early '90.
Yandex has a news block right in the middle of its front page. Only "approved" news sources could be shown there.
For people not specifically searching for recent updates on a topic or particular media outlets it represents the news.
As far as I remember they wanted to remove this block instead of completely instead of censoring, but they were not allowed to. I think it was described in one of the documentaries about Yandex, but my memories are vague now.
When people say electric car will outlast ICE what do they mean exactly? I'm driving 10 y.o. Honda and with my usage I think rubber and plastic trims will fall apart and the body would rust much sooner than its engine or gearbox will fail.
All the parts like upholstery, suspension wear as much on electric as on ICE I would think.
No one replaces those parts, does it mean you'll be driving your electric car till your sit falls through the rusted floor but the engine still runs smooth?
Not an astronomer, but from my limited knowledge telescopes usually use reflection e.g. mirrors so they don't need to correct for chromatic aberrations introduced by lenses and they also don't use things like optical stabilisation. Refractors could possibly be corrected, but AFAIK they aren't widely used in astronomy and hobby telescopes is such a niche market.
I don't think Google or any other tech company is doing something new here. If you look on Enron scandal or shady things tobacco companies did or car manufacturing not doing recalls etc etc. This isn't that different.
I also struggled to find a mouse with a decent wheel that you can click without moving it off which is handy in CAD's. Gave up in the end and switched to using thumb button for middle click. But there's an option to get one of 3DConnexion CAD Mouse's if you can swallow the price tag.
Keeping the data for European users after deletion would be in breach of GDPR, so Facebook does delete data after some grace period. It doesn't necessarily mean physically removing files, but you can do other things like storing data at rest encrypted with with an account unique key and then removing the key when account is deleted.
Rocket engines could only be throttled down to certain power and manoeuvring thrusters would run out of propellant way before it reaches any orbit. Maybe something like electric propulsion can do it but it will take very long time to make it practical imho.
When I had to deal with "customer retention dept" as a part of cancellation I was saying that I'm moving to another country and that immediately killed their interest.
Facebook doesn't hold your chat data. As soon as message reaches recipient(s) it is deleted. That's why Whatsapp nags you every year about making a google drive backup (it archives data from your phone to drive, not sends it from its servers to drive). So no GDPR could resurrect your chats and it is not violation because they don't have such data.
