Process a stream of data - yes. Machine learning on large set of data - no.
I can hardly believe Lockheed with Boeing investing into research over life in space research.
Also, one can easily reduce/remove Blue from any monitor using hardware settings alone.
Other than that, I fully agree with you.
Are you implying that technical people do not use iOS? Well, you might be surprised if you dig for some statistics.
All safety critical software (every piece of code ran on-board is safety critical the least) in aerospace needs to pass the DO-178 standard [1].
That is far more serious than standard unit tests you are used to in node.js applications. Generally speaking, to develop a piece of code under that standard it takes 20% of time to write the code, and 80% to testing, and enormous amount of documentation (that is optimistic estimation, usually worse).
Quoting speaker from DO-178 training course I attended:
People often ask us. "How do we know the standard works?"
We give this answer: "We do not know. But there have been zero crashes due to software issues since introduction"
If this crash confirms the cause to be a software bug, that is something much bigger than an airplane crash - a huge punch to the whole federal aviation administration. On the other hand, I agree that we are going to see some awful things as a result of internet.org activities.
Absolutely? So if the price was $50 per movie, $100, or $1000?
There has to be the balance in next equation:
Affordability + ease of obtain versus feeling of guilt for pirating.
If there is no feel of guilt, little can be done, example: Russians pirating everything, and they are not as poor as you might perceive.
Ludicrous price? Oh to heck it will be pirated even by Americans.
Ease of obtain - at least we are not arguing over this (now) obvious fact.
We can have a look at USA with probably the most expensive internet / mobile plans and worst internet (excluding undeveloped countries). On the other hand, there are many emerging EU countries like Lithuania, where you can get stable 4G across a country for 5 eur/month.
Other question would be whether processor is powerful enough to handle Windows 10 desktop applications (I am not talking about games, but even Skype is CPU hungry nowadays)
This ambiguity alone is the reason I and probably others will look elsewhere.
The example you gave is exactly this: imagine if your web-browser would create new windows instead of tabs. Why? Well, it would just let OS manage the tabs, afterall that is the main functionality of the Operating System.
Hardly everyone wants their vim to create a bunch of tmux windows messing up their workflow: constantly changing IDs of tmux windows; slow navigation between vim files as user now has to open ID 15 (tmux); mixed order... Oh that sounds as bad as seeing all your open websites in Meta/Alt+Tab.
So please, do not speak for everyone with arguments "vim shouldn't have its own window functionality".
Thank you for sharing, I have signed in.
