akilism··on Modern ClojureScript
True....Living Clojure isn't focused on just ClojureScript either.
akilism··on Modern ClojureScript
also aphyr's clojure from the ground up has great exercises at the end of each post.

akilism··on Modern ClojureScript
I really liked Living Clojure.

akilism··on ClojureScript 1.7: ClojureScript can compile itself
It's so simple now:

http://planck.fikesfarm.com/

download, run, and you have a clojurescript repl ready to go on osx at least.

akilism··on ClojureScript 1.7: ClojureScript can compile itself
plus an editor with a nice paredit mode.
akilism··on Amazon Sign Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May
What's wrong with Amazon Prime on the Xbox One? I use it all the time and have had less problems with it than Netflix on the Xbox One...

The android thing is annoying.

akilism··on As Tech Booms, Workers Turn to Coding for Career Change
one easy trick: code reviews.
akilism··on Show HN: Flexbox.io – a free video series on learning CSS Flexbox
yeah this is my go to when I can't remember some little part of the flex box spec.
akilism··on Sandra Bland arrest video has continuity problems, anomalies
where do you get that he was going to be nice from?
akilism··on Sandra Bland arrest video has continuity problems, anomalies
If this is the case right then there should be tons of other video where this happens. It happens what 5 or 6 times in one video?
akilism··on What happens when you talk about salaries at Google
first hand account from even a disgruntled employee or some maybe true maybe false 2nd hand account from reddit rando? one doesn't hardly even seem like it's worth a mention unless it helps confirm your preconceived bias.
akilism··on Two.js
I don't think this is something unique to the Javascript world people make sightly different eyeglasses, plates, houses, frameworks, libraries, programming languages, etc.
akilism··on Standing Desks – Save your back, change your life
these look pretty nice.
akilism··on The boring front-end developer
Am I supposed to worry about IE6 when Microsoft doesn't? Can we draw the line at supporting things when their creators give up on them?
akilism··on The boring front-end developer
double edged sword though right?

we should be striving to write the most readable and easily understandable code. neither the most lines or the fewest but what can be easily proven and reasoned about.

akilism··on Angular vs. React – the tie breaker
There is no best. There is just a best for you/your style.
akilism··on Technical Hiring and Cultural Fit
Right. "Hire more women for the sexual tension."

The tech sector has a long way to go.

akilism··on Technical Hiring and Cultural Fit
What? What does getting along with your coworkers have to do with fixing anything? Are disagreeable people better at fixing glitches?
akilism··on Technical Hiring and Cultural Fit
What did I just read...
akilism··on Show HN: Potbox – A premium cannabis subscription club
I just can't see myself supporting marijuana startups unless they are doing something about the millions of people who are locked up nationwide for sale or possession. It's great you saw and opportunity to make some money but people's lives have been destroyed before we got to the point you could stroll in and make an easy buck.
akilism··on Om Next – David Nolen [video]
yes this is exactly what it is. it's definitely going to be one of those clutch things in the near future. being able to write some ui code that is acting as if the data is already available to it.
akilism··on Om Next – David Nolen [video]
Yeah, that was a great talk.

I really want to try out Om Next. I've been building a bunch of stuff in Om lately and the Falcor/Relay/GraphQL/Om Next stuff is really going to be great to have at my disposal.

The clojurescript compiling clojurescript stuff looks great too.

akilism··on The Cult of Vice
People only "forget" this when they are trying to be disingenuous about how freedom of speech works.

What does he have to do to convince you?
akilism··on ES6: The features I'm most excited about
I'm with him, I'm pretty excited about destructing coming to JS. If it's half as powerful as it is in clojure it'll be great.
akilism··on ES6: The features I'm most excited about
yep. personally I've taken a much more functional approach to my javascript development that barely relies on oop.
akilism··on Clojure 1.7 is now available
Nice I'm going to check this out... I've been using chestnut a lot lately.

akilism··on Clojure 1.7 is now available
Might as well check out Joy of Clojure by Michael Fogus also, really good book.
