My sleep tracker registers terrible deep sleep and sometimes I jolk awake after the buzz wears off.
aitchnyu··on Alberta's image as world's only rat-free region shattered by discovery of rat
I have a feeling cats are evolving to avoid mice in this corner of India. I had a stray mother cat who kept kittens on the roof. The mother weighed 3-4kg and two kittens weighed 750g each. The prey skeletons around them were mostly reptiles and birds. The cats catching mice for their kittens give them an infection that kills within days.
aitchnyu··on Grammarly will send unhinged messages to all your users if you try to cancel
I took Grammarly's side, since we used a few SaaS and the CFO (small company for context) revoked access and we had to beg him. Reading the comments about multiple SaaS annoying end users changed my mind.

Heard that proverb. I'm more inclined to believe rich families from 1400s are rich now. Family wealth can be preserved by sending spare sons and daughters to monastic life.

aitchnyu··on Mullenweg has returned as CEO after attempted board ouster
A targetted attack will be easy to do with an AI.
aitchnyu··on Show HN: Copperhead – Cursor for circuit boards
Why would somebody ever use a hosted version? I see "One-click gerber, DXF/STEP, render and BOM export" and "Altium support beyond KiCad" in cloud plans, dunno if they are compelling.
aitchnyu··on AI models ran real businesses: They sent $12,431 in fake invoices, lost $3,200
I thought meow.com is a fictional bank in this fiction. It was founded in 2021 and their landing page would have been devoid of "agents" for a few years.
aitchnyu··on D2 Is Non-Profit
Tangential, do LLMs generate D2 code as easily as Mermaid and do tools like Github and Confluence render them?
aitchnyu··on WebLLM: high-performance in-browser LLM inference engine
Is there any use case/demo of lighter models like using embeddings for full text search, STT, OCR etc?
aitchnyu··on We are rebuilding Monica
Good ol days. I bought the book about the project's failure in 2012. They mentioned Python-Wx wrapper they created and I used it for a Python project.
aitchnyu··on Grep beats LSP? Why coding agents ignore your fancier tools
Which language and agent? I used Aider on a Python project which had string references (as opposed to module tree) and cross-repo references. LSP lookups were fast and I hated it when Aider used 2M tokens a day, but grep was more complete.
aitchnyu··on Malleable software = solid bases and custom code
Is there a big distinction between "Build from scratch (Claude Code, Codex)" and "Vibe-code (Lovable, v0)", if an agent can set up hosting, database, deploy etc?
aitchnyu··on Dropbox Data Breach
What is Lenovo doing here? Were they bundling Dropbox with their devices?
aitchnyu··on Amazon now hides all customer reviews on products
It used to be the case with Amazon India. Now my Gmail shows my fish food will arrive in 2 days.

aitchnyu··on I Dream of Quieter Computing
Had a Samtron 15" and the LCD that replaced it was very washed out. Commercial users in India kept them for 15+ years.

Are LLM companies proven to be profitable now?
aitchnyu··on 'Ghost job' ads are getting so bad that lawmakers want to ban them
The Ontario law defines AI:

> A machine-based system that, for explicit or implicit objectives, infers from the input it receives to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations or decisions that can influence physical or virtual environments.

The AI disclosure will be noise, not signal.

aitchnyu··on Ameliorate
I expected scores and justifications to show up all the time, not just hover, no matter the view. Did you consider styling edge types differently to replace labels?

Saw Grouped <details>, ctrl+F'd the hidden content and it opened and highlighted the text in Firefox. Was waiting for this fix ever since I learned about details.
aitchnyu··on PostgreSQL for Everything
I see Tantivy mentioned in your readme but AFAICT there is no PG-Tantivy sync. I also see "native vector support is coming to our search index soon". Could you clarify?

What do you suggest for a language like Malayalam which has no native support, preferably with low RAM requirements?

aitchnyu··on GLM-5.3 Artificial Analysis Benchmarks
Generally, are closed sourced models hiding their traces? I was making an agent to develop and deploy apps and fed the traces to dispel time-consuming detours and made it a few times faster.
aitchnyu··on Scientists stunned by children's lung recovery in ultra low emission zone
I wanted to long for the time when people hated "Malaria" and wanted to move to "Beunos Aires". But they believed the arrows chase us at daytime and the plague engulf us at night, like in the Psalm.
