ahuxley2013··on Ask HN: Has anyone here turned around their life in their 40s?
Pretty much in the same position. It sucks. I met a few therapists and they flat out turned me away and said I couldn't help me. Took 9 months to find a therapist and I have to say it's been a waste. No real change. No substantive advice that I can tell and no changes really, which is not really the therapists fault it's just the situation which can't really be changed. The notion that I have to just reframe the problems so that I feel better about them is not really a plan of action on how to resolve the issue/depression. The situations still exists, and from what I am reading this is pretty wide spread and only going to get worse in the US with the aging population and economy.
ahuxley2013··on Behind a Secret Deal Between Google and Facebook
Pretty obvious all of the tech oligarchies are colluding. They should be broken up, Apple, Google, Facebook, Oracle, Etc. All the major companies in all the major sectors of the economy collude with one another. I remember when the secret Apple/Google/Oracle collusion came out. On Hacker News people from the fast food industry stated that they engaged in the same practices between McDonalds/Burger King/Wendy's etc. So even the lowest rung of labor in the U.S. has the same collusion and illegal practices.
ahuxley2013··on Microsoft accused of sharing data of Office 365 subscribers with Facebook
MS owns 7% of Facebook. So they probably share the data.
ahuxley2013··on Cambridge Analytica whistleblower used same Facebook dataset for own startup
I have a sneaking suspicion this guy is a plant or something for the C.I.A. or NSA. The interviews I have heard, he starts to ramble on about Russia, and making bizarre connections. There is such lust for a ward with Russia it is nuts.
ahuxley2013··on Why does American medicine still run on fax machines?
Faxes are considered the only secure communication channel by medical companies. Email is not secure. The Vatican has the same stance. They pope communicates via fax the majority of the time, per 60 minutes.
ahuxley2013··on Imagining a Cashless World: Sweden Begins Eliminating Cash from Daily Life
This is a dangerous movement. There are documents from Visa and I believe Mastercard about how to push for a cashless system, which would be in their best interest. Imagine having to pay a 2% transaction fee on EVERYTHING. Water bill, 2% more. Gas, 2% more, food, 2% more on top of the 2% to 3% inflation that grows each year. Etc. etc. etc. A lot of "futurist" have talked about how cash is archaic but being stuck in ONLY electronic banking, and your just closer to global slavery.
ahuxley2013··on From Vertigo to Tinnitus, Ear Ailments Are New Focus for Drugs
|Meniere's disease I remember hearing on the Joe Rogan Podcast, Joe Rogan discussing going to Germany with Dana White, the owner of UFC. They did some kind of blood transfusion treatment. Joe did it for his knee, and Dana did it for his Meniere's disease, and supposedly it repaired his knee and stopped the disease. I don't recall what it was called though.
