ahmett··on OS X 10.10 – Source Code
And the good old shellshocked bash version 3.2 http://opensource.apple.com/source/bash/bash-94.1.2/version....
ahmett··on Docker 1.3 is out
Docker Remote API v1.15 is also out. But without a WHATSNEW section... https://docs.docker.com/reference/api/docker_remote_api/#ful...
ahmett··on Docker and Microsoft partner to drive adoption of distributed applications
I wonder why is this the case. Microsoft is now teaming up with Docker, Google and others to make containers ecosystem and orchestration tools (like Kubernetes, libswarm) better.
ahmett··on A command line interface for 1Password
I wish I could use 1password as my private key store (~/.ssh, per se). I hope the author reads this.
ahmett··on Fixing a 37-year-old bug by merging a 22-year-old fix
Here is the diff:

http://cvsweb.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/usr.bin/head/he...

ahmett··on Microsoft Xim
Click on it.
ahmett··on Microsoft Xim
Unlike everybody else, when it's Microsoft, iOS app comes the last.
ahmett··on Become Estonia’s e-resident
They could have SSL encryption on this site and perhaps launch it under some government TLD instead of .com.
ahmett··on T – a command-line power tool for Twitter
I have the following project for this. https://github.com/ahmetalpbalkan/goodbye It can DM you when someone unfollows you. But you need to host it somewhere.
ahmett··on How I Start: Go
It's actually annoying Go is shown as a web language in many tutorials. It's simply not. If you use Go for systems programming and other stuff like creating daemons, services, you will fall in love with it more and will not go back to any other language. That's why I believe those Go start tutorials should not be showing the net/http side of things.
ahmett··on Boeing Flies on 99% Ada
FAA certifies software and databases (and the data in those databases) of companies like Boeing.
ahmett··on Hidden message in Google Maps?
It's weird they have fictitious entries right on crowded areas of a metropolitan city which tons of people look up on their mobile phones every single day. I'd say this is bad UX.
ahmett··on Readings in Databases
Paxos paper is in "Basics" category just like it is meant to be a joke. Even the "Paxos made simple" paper is not easily understood by graduate students as many studies have shown. (see Raft paper for a study on this.)
ahmett··on Bolt from Instagram (iOS)
I believe it's not available in US App Store yet. At least gives me error when I try for now.
ahmett··on Parsing PHP in Go
Please don't make a PHP transpiler. :(
ahmett··on Third Annual GitHub Data Challenge
No this is the official boycott list I guess.
ahmett··on Underscore.go
I have done something similar in the past: http://ahmetalpbalkan.github.io/go-linq/ (https://github.com/ahmetalpbalkan/go-linq) this also has filter/map functions (where/select in LINQ) I haven't used reflection but callers should make type assertions needed.

This doesn't make things very slow but not very faster either. When you need performance, a code generator like this can help: http://clipperhouse.github.io/gen/

ahmett··on Show HN: InstaLove – Tinder on Autopilot
I made the same in a 10-line Python script the other day and I am running it on my machine.

I obtained access_token from Tinder API using mitmproxy. So it works quite well without installing Cydia or another app to my phone.

ahmett··on Plug – Native OS X client for Hype Machine
Awesome job, lovely UI. Are you planning to add "Scrobble to Last.fm" feature?
ahmett··on MDwiki – Markdown based wiki done 100% on the client via JavaScript
And how is the crawling of search bots handled? Does Google render this into HTML and interpret the hyperlinks and try to crawl deeper pages as well?
ahmett··on 11th Linode Birthday, $10 Linode plan
Note, DigitalOcean has a $5 plan, and works quite fine for my case where I host tons of small traffic websites and background tasks.
ahmett··on Fitness Crazed
I do not have a NYTimes subscription, please consider not posting from this website.
ahmett··on Yet another note app for iPhone, iPad and Mac
Nice job! off-topic: I use OneNote on Windows/Mac/iPhone, perfectly syncs to your Microsoft account, rich text editing, password-protected pages, file embedding etc, it all works just fine. I really recommend that.
ahmett··on PDFium: Chrome’s PDF rendering engine is now open-source
Seriously, releasing on Google Code Project Hosting instead of GitHub? Even CodePlex is better than that.
ahmett··on The woman who saw beneath oceans
She is also mentioned on Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. That's a fantastic discovery on proving the theory saying America was once connected to Europe and Africa.
ahmett··on Octotree: the missing GitHub tree view (Chrome extension)
Here's an idea: Automatically expand all the tree until there are more than 1 items in the level

e.g. src->com->twitter->scalding->scala->test (in this example, these are all folders in hierarchy and they are the only one until the 'test' so expanding them automatically all the way through makes sense).

ahmett··on CShell: A simple, yet powerful, C# scripting IDE
Scriptcs is out there for quite some time now. http://scriptcs.net/ it also has the motto "Unleash your C# from Visual Studio."

It provides you proper scripting abilities by using other libraries, writing classes in the REPL and scripting, like proper scripting languages. CShell just seemed like a windowed application whereas Scriptcs also runs on Unix environment with Mono I guess.

ahmett··on Show HN: I open-sourced my iPhone app side project
What does it do? It didn't seem practical to me from screenshots, does it somehow understand you're running or doing commute from location/sensors?
ahmett··on Show HN: My first Ludum Dare entry, online multiplayer game Hide-n-Stab
This did not work on my machine running Chrome on OS X. I can't do anything in the game, I am just staring at the screen loaded.
ahmett··on Google acknowledges XKCD #1361
The command is only:

dig +short TXT google-public-dns-a.google.com

by the way, the "http://xkcd..." part is the response, but since @asdafa didn't put \n\n after the command, it's appearing at the same line.
