afsina··on Berlin Google Campus occupied
Ok, so called anarcho communists to be exact. Still, bunch of bullies.
afsina··on Berlin Google Campus occupied
These are not anarchists. Just a bunch of bully.
afsina··on [dead]
Perhaps Vox should consider giving a Math 101 lecture to his editors.
afsina··on China’s first ‘fully homegrown’ web browser found to be Google Chrome clone
This is not the same thing. What these guys doing is, for snatching some free money from government, they hid facts.
afsina··on War Without End
No, community and state are two different things. Surely I do not accept social contract theory. But I do not think we will reach a common ground arguing this issue.
afsina··on War Without End
Historically most ancient or medieval wars were fought by professional soldiers.

Here is a Wikipedia quote

"The persistent old belief that peasants and small farmers gathered to form a national army or fyrd is a strange delusion dreamt up by antiquarians in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth centuries to justify universal military conscription"

I support Rothbard's view on the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3TY5OhUJhw

afsina··on War Without End
What an unbelievably bad idea. Mandatory drafting is involuntary servitude, slavery. How about taking a non interventionist policy?
afsina··on How Globalization Has Broken the Chain of Responsibility
Sure, China was a bastion of prosperity before even a perverted model of capitalism (please don't call it free market capitalism) was introduced (sarcasm). Beside what makes "democracy" a good thing anyway? Protection of rights has nothing to do with it.
afsina··on Macron Wants to Rein in Silicon Valley, from Brussels
You have too much fate on politicians and government regulations.
afsina··on Macron Wants to Rein in Silicon Valley, from Brussels
I think this is all about money really. EU lost the tech war so they try to make winners life so hard so that they could either squeeze more money from them or enforce some government supported - controlled inferior products to replace them. These may be the excuse key words: "protecting civil rights, hate speech, terrorism, privacy"
afsina··on Federal Judge: Albuquerque's Asset Forfeiture is Unconstitutional
sarcasm?
afsina··on That sinking feeling
Alarmist is an understatement. Especially last part sounds like delusional to me.
afsina··on Ask HN: What popular apps were made exclusively with React Native or Flutter?
Although production quality, Flutter is not even 1.0.0 so don't expect a lot of public applications yet.
afsina··on China Mines Silicon Valley for Tech Talent
So it is not really a "problem" for workers after all.
afsina··on Wink-lemmatizer
Good luck with Turkish. A very large lookup table may work for %90 cases but it will still fail. A basic `true` lemmatizer requires either a complex graph with rules, or an FST generated from it. input is searched through the graph and morphological disambiguator must be applied to result to pick the correct lemma.
afsina··on Google Engineers Refused to Build Security Tool to Win Military Contracts
Or, they were (softly) forced.
afsina··on Uber is experimenting with letting riders wait longer for a cheaper fare
There may be lessons to learn, but profitability in state supported railways-metro (publicly owned or privately operated but government subsidized) is almost impossible. Singapore is a tiny place and property prices are astronomical. Singapore Metro earns money from property rentals (some state coercion helps too). This does not work for most cities in the world.
afsina··on Turkey's 'Mathematics Village': Changing education one equation at a time
I don't know. I saw him in national TV channel two years ago (state owned one) giving a lecture to high school kids on quadratic equations. It was a superb lecture, and trust me he could not appear there if Erdoğan had a quarrel with him.
afsina··on Amazon Is Complicit in Online Sales of Counterfeit Goods: Report
Care to point to credible links? After I dig deeper, seems like he was not really took any sentence on the hit-hiring account. Isn't that absurd?
afsina··on Uber is experimenting with letting riders wait longer for a cheaper fare
That is an outlier. Almost all public transportation systems runs on deficit.
afsina··on Amazon Is Complicit in Online Sales of Counterfeit Goods: Report
I thought that was debunked already. (If here is credible https://freeross.org )
afsina··on Ready for Production Apps: Flutter Beta 3
Not compressed, compiled to machine code.
afsina··on Ready for Production Apps: Flutter Beta 3
Here is some info: https://flutter.io/faq/#how-big-is-the-flutter-engine
afsina··on When banks abandoned American Samoa, the islands found a solution: public banks
That "dogma" is closer to reality and it is the reasonable one.
afsina··on What Does an Infamous Biohacker’s Death Mean for the Future of DIY Science?
This is not such a case. More like "Let adults bare consequences of their decisions please".
afsina··on France’s government is building its own encrypted messenger service
All government projects goes wrong (I was in several of them). But man this was extreme.
afsina··on Fuchsia is not Linux
AFAIK there is Rust and Swift support in OS but seems like high level UI is done with Flutter for the time being.
afsina··on Google Workers Urge C.E.O. To Pull Out of Pentagon A.I. Project
Broken glass fallacy. Just because government and military funded some technology does not mean that technology would not be in an advanced state otherwise. Especially if you consider the countless failures and unnecessary excessive spending that took the resources indirectly from people and inventors. Besides brains that worked for military and government funded projects would perhaps find much better things to work on otherwise.
afsina··on Will MySpace ever lose its monopoly? (2007)
My take is, The Guardian does not understand the concept of monopolies well.
