adityar··on Caller ID Made Simple
This may be common knowledge but in the browser address bar do https://api.opencnam.com/v1/phone/2024561111?format=text
adityar··on Ask HN: more sites like HN
that's true. I do skip over some links. I am eclectic but i end up hitting the limit anyway.
adityar··on Ask HN: more sites like HN
nice!
adityar··on Ask HN: Review our online pitch deck
people can subscribe to more than one channel so it's more like 23.7B subscriptions (of course you have to figure out how many are willing to pay for the privilege).
adityar··on Ask HN: Review our Landing Page
0. I really like your background.

1. I think all your icons should have the same color shade. I thought the + sign was something special at first glance(functionally).

2. The layout could be closer to how the page is traversed visually. to view the benefits,i have to look at all four corners first. a sample ex:

< all your icons in one line with names below>

< pitch text>

<signup/call to action>

3. I agree with dwynings that the text is hard to read due to shadow/font choice

4. Don't know which call to action is better: build a library or connect with artists. having both dilutes the value proposition. Maybe some A/B testing would be in order.

adityar··on Ask HN: Could this kill email?
With respect to emails, most emails that I read are actually written by people important to me. You may or may not think my boss is important but I'm going to read his email. It's going to be really hard to find a common metric that measures the non-spam-ness of a person. It's all relative.

Maybe, if you took it to the next level, and said each person has their own custom importance function...

Even then, it's still email (less spam, maybe) and not a replacement per se.

adityar··on Name for startup.
amusely sounds better but i'm not sure it captures your product functionality. I guess it won't matter if you get big.
adityar··on Pctr : free, unlimited photo hosting
Supports only jpg for now it appears.
adityar··on Startups for scientific people.
My understanding is that this is a place to connect scientists to startups. like angel list for PhDs.

things to think about: 1. niche: different industries have radically different requirements so pick a good one (ex: Pharma vs Geophysicists) 2. security: can't really show off things that may be under NDA or propreitary (that's where the money is) 3. MVP: barebones FB for scientists?

adityar··on Show HN:Free Feedback widget for websites
Maybe you should allow people to mark out/highlight an area for feedback? the issue may not be obvious from a whole page screenshot. Other than that, nice.
adityar··on Ask HN: get*.com and *app.com domain names
At some point, if you're successful you're going to have to buy them out. I believe mobify started with mobify.me (hey another option!) and then later bought mobify.com after gaining traction.
adityar··on Ask HN: Which would be a better splash page?
Thanks for taking the time on this one.
adityar··on Ask HN: Which would be a better splash page?
Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it.
adityar··on Ask HN: Which would be a better splash page?
Thanks. This is embarrassing but I can't make out any difference in mes2...I'm looking at the buttons (assume that's where the tweaks are). Is there a change in aspect ratio of the buttons?
adityar··on Bootstrapping: How I Doubled My Workweek Productivity
Hey, your link to hastagifypro in the article links to another article (about Twitter marketing). Intended?
adityar··on Ask HN: Tell me something that's spread around on a couple of (cocky) websites
I'm not even sure what that means! What does that mean? an example?
adityar··on Shit That Siri Says
Hilarious!
adityar··on Ask HN: Is anyone else seeing fake signups recently?
I've seen that as well (not exactly the same domains, though) but totally random usernames and emails. Doesn't appear to be a bot. Each signup takes some time. The IP address traces back to China. No idea what they are trying to accomplish.
adityar··on Future proofing CS knowledge
In addition to what's been said, design patterns will serve you well for a long time.
