Also remember, using claude to code might make the company you're working for richer. But you are forgetting your skills (seen it first hand), and you're not learning anything new. Professionally you are downgrading. Your next interview won't be testing your AI skills.
It's almost like bureaucracy. The systems we have in governments or large corporations to do anything might seem bloated an could be simplified. But it's there to keep a lot of people employed, pacified, powers distributed in a way to prevent hostile takeovers (crazy). I think there was a cgp grey video about rulers which made the same point.
Similarly AI written highly verbose code will require another AI to review or continue to maintain it, I wonder if that's something the frontier models optimize for to keep them from going out of business.
Oh and I don't mind they're bashing openclaw and selling why nanoclaw is better. I miss the times when products competed with each other in the open.
If a setting is default, if an app is presented on the front they'll continue to use it as it is. The crowd here always overestimates how competent/interested the general public are in these things.
99.9% (source: my life) of users never even open the second level of the settings app. 99% don't even open the settings app. They don't know how much they can even change or care.
iPhones auto surfacing airpods to pair with was not for convenience it was a necessity. People don't know how to pair with bluetooth. Now android does it as well.
There's a generation that grew up with appliances that accounted for their mistakes rather than failing. There's no need to learn or understand how something works.
Atleast he has the decency to ask for stuff first and being straight.
Hilarious comment by the way https://github.com/microsoft/edit/discussions/682#discussion...
If you or I copied and reimplemented nextjs in a better way, it doesn't feel as wrong. But when a large company does that and then brag about it, it's in poor taste.
Especially pointing out one developer and 1000 usd of tokens replacing the efforts of hundreds of talented developers. There's people on the other side of the screen.
Vercel may be bad, but they have been a net positive to the web landscape, so many projects are alive because of them. And I truly respect the hard work the next devs put into their code and test suites. I'm surprised any self respecting dev even votes this up.
Hi next.js devs, we like to acknowledge the effort you put for writing good tests so we were able to rip it off. You know claude already has next's entire source code in it's training data?
The main point still stands, google is part of a duopoly that runs the world. You can't be a functional member of society without them. They're like a public utility and plays too big of a role in people's life to take decisions based on unknown internal policies. They're long overdue for a government intervention or for splitting up.
