All contributions are welcome, however we're working 2 fulltime jobs and care for a 3 yo in lockdown, so time to work on this project is a luxury.
We (Nice Project sp. z o.o. - http://niceproject.eu) are currently building a team of test automation specialist to help our german customers with their automation needs.
Please note, that this is not a classical software tester position: the tests are currently mostly performed on customer's side, and your job will be to aid and guide the efforts related to more technical aspects of both functional and load/performance testing.
What will you be doing at this position:
- Execute, analyze and report already available performance test of complex, modular application for print shops. - Continue automation (in Python) of any not yet automated test steps - Be involved in determining the right direction for ongoing load testing efforts, and creation of completely new load testing scenarios
Additional objectives that may be relevant to future activities:
- Help with automation efforts using Ranorex, Robot Framework and/or Selenium based solutions - Be involved in testing activities in projects undertaken by Nice Project
We are looking to hire 2 team members on medium to senior level.
English language is required (duh), German language is required on at least reading comprehension level.
What else: - Small team (we're just getting started) where your voice will be heard - Interesting projects in a complex domain - Flexible working hours, home office, part-time models - Domain specific trainings - We plan to provide further language lessons for our team members to improve their German language even more

What could be better? Well plenty, of course.
We could be saving money for our own place faster. But we partially use it to enjoy day to day and treat ourselves. I consider it money well spent, regardless of my wife's guilt feeling. We could be spending even more time together. But this is mostly because my wife is currently learning python programming and software testing in order to get back to job hunt. It was a conscious decisions, and her weekend school ends in a couple of weeks anyway. We could be spending more time with our friends. But we're all busy people, and we try to be understanding that it's difficult to find good timeslots.
So, it's all temporary hurdles, not really hardships.
God, the many times I had told them so months before difficult situations arrived, just to be swiftly ignored by business because some devs didn't want to bother, and wanted to get to more shiny and fancy and interesting problems.
And when it comes to "it depends on the kid", oh dear. I try to practice stoicism whenever I remember about it, and logically I try to remember that I should be grateful for his fussiness and rebelliousness, since they give me occasions to practice my stoicism. But it sure does feel a bit like stockholm syndrome sometimes.
But anyway, I'm not too current when it comes to lambdas. Are they compiled everytime when cold started, or is a compiled binary stored in some sort of image?
Why are all the houses in the village of Wąchock painted white? Because the mayor thereof heard that "no bomb shall ever fall on a white house"
There were a lot more, including: why are all the houses in Wąchock round? Because the fortuneteller told mayor that he'll get slapped in the face behind the corner.
Oh, fun times. But yes, it's amazingly decandent how all those companies build up their campuses. I have comparison with a german campus in Hamburg, where the feel that I got was more of a tired and forced one, even with all the new developments and efforts to keep it up to date.
I am a software testing specialist with a background in software development and experience in test automation. Full ISTQB Advanced level certification, actively working since 2009. I specialize in Exploratory Testing and Test Automation. I've worked in both regulated industry (dental devices) and all sorts of agile environments. Tested things myself, coached other testers, automated testing, solved some programming problems myself, coached developers in the art of unit and integration testing, you name it.
I am familiar with the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, C#, Go, Bash
I have used the following test automation tools: Robot Framework, Ranorex, Selenium, Fit, Nosetests, JUnit, Mockito, Mocha, Jest, Jasmine, Pandas
I have used the following infrastructure automation tools: Puppet, Ansible
What I do NOT do is security testing, at least not in depth.
I am looking for either full-time or part-time projects. I work via a company founded with a couple of friends that ensures that I am properly employed and all tax stuff is taken care of. I move from Germany to Poland in December and starting January I am available 100%. If you have a need, any need related to testing or software quality, do send me an e-mail at adam@simplyqa.io. I can do consulting, mentoring, time and material testing, automate or rework your automated tests.
If somebody ever runs with this idea - just let me know afterwards how much have I missed on?
Other one is Stainless Steel Rat series by Harry Harrison, those are very funny and don't attempt to take themselves too seriously, and have the same principle - you can jump into the story at any moment and just enjoy rapid pace of events splashed with humorous commentary. Plus the protagonist is a very much self made man in a world where it doesn't come easily, so there's that bit of hope for you.
Thirdly - Discworld. I guess it does not need comment, does it?
In Germany, I recently got "junior test automation engineer" job offer, that required at least 3 years of automation experience. Upon my joking remark to the recruited, he just smirked and said "that's how the customer sees it".
This comes however with increased risk, as the contracts are usually limited to 6 months, and because of "Scheinselbstständigkeit" (appearing to be employed, even though you are contracted out to your own company, or DBA) companies are prohibitted from prolonging those contracts, unless they want to pay horrendous penalties.
All is good and great, I understand why those laws were put into place (mostly to protect unskilled workers, like drivers or manufacturing line workers from being forced to sign more beneficial - to the company - contracts instead of work agreements), but the software engineers, with the employment gap will in most cases easily find a replacement job somewhere near, yet the companies necessarily undergo a brain drain, and the know how gets leaked out.
Just imagine, you need a couple of weeks to be able to actually productively add features to the product, then take a bit time off, some workshop, a ton of meetings, and basically your 6 months are off, and unless your client is willing to take the risk, your starting your offboarding - just mabye transferring all that you had learned in the meantime to somebody else.
If you hadn't had used any FB libraries in the first place and Facebook decided to copy your product, you would at least have a chance to make your case in court in a timely manner.
But I'm also from Europe and may not understand all the intricacies of US justice system, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
This seriously sucks, especially that I now have to find a new solution, deploy it remotely on multiple PCs, and they'll all have to suck it up for another couple of weeks if not months when everything reuploads to the new solution.
As for me - even if I migrate to new solution, I'd still effectively loose the versioning. This is a serious bummer!
