Just a NR talking with other naive realists: naive realism as a defining cultural trait of HN:

It operates as the manifestation of two ingrained beliefs:

1. When considering any question I must be rational and logical to the point of dismissing any unverifiable data as preposterous. (The idea that "I'm a logical person, all the subjective ideas you have, all the speculation you have... I don't care. I only go by the facts, I make my decisions based on those facts.")

Yet at the same time, the person holding this idea also holds this in their mind as well:

2. When considering any question, I'm going to assume that the information we currently have is all the information that will ever be available.

The problem: We use logic, but on the basis that everything we know currently is all there is to know about this thing. - Chuck Klosterman

stop its too real!
abledon··on Incompetent but Nice
I'd say a Nice Incompetent person can be as demoralizing as an Awesome Jerk. The Incompetent person is making you work harder taking care of their slack while they coast and get paid equal or more salary.

I'm just thinking of that reddit post about the 3d artist who is demoralized about his small indie company and him being reduced to just inputting prompts all day. Now its spreading to the animators and Explosion/CreatureEffects artists.

Studios like Wetta Digital / DoubleNegative etc.. are gonna pounce on this

abledon··on Linux is Making Apple Great Again
I can't wait for the 15" macbook air. That thing will probably be my jumping off point into feeling out the Asahi Linux vibe on Macs.

also battery life still sucks on this generation. Once it lasts a week or two, then I'll be interested.
abledon··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
I use it to write tons of boilerplate code in random flavour of the week languages I am dealing with at work or on hobby projects. e.g. nginx/ansible/powershell/golang etc.. weird codebases your thrown back into a few years later. I know what I want, I just forget the exact syntax of how to get it done. Sometimes its wrong and I have to correct it, but half of the battle is knowing when its bullshitting.

if the article is saying to use 'fzf' to fuzzy-find things, why do we want to install 'fd' to multi-thread find things alongside fzf ?
