Their source is StatCounter. I would trust the trends but not their absolute values. This month, Steam reported an increase to 4.01% while Cloudflare's human activity reports ~6%.
abhinavk··on Keychron announces first open-source firmware for gaming mice
Do you mean really ortholinears like Planck or columnars like Corne, Sofle, Kinesis?
abhinavk··on Keychron announces first open-source firmware for gaming mice
Yep. I am waiting for half-duplex UART splitkb support to come so that I can move everything over.

I am deep into custom keyboards but I only buy ones with hot swappable switches. Some keys like AWSDEHJKL etc are bound to fail sooner than others.

You can modify the fs using rpm-ostree. It will overlay your changes on top of the immutable image. The recommended way is to create toolbox/distrobox which uses containers to isolate stuff.
abhinavk··on What Apple and Google are doing to push notifications
On iOS atleast, Live Activities are separate from Notifications. So I can still monitor food or grocery delivery even though I have turned off their notifications.

Now a few apps have started sending notifications through WhatsApp because they have my phone number. e.g. Amazon

You know `/etc/passwd` doesn't really have passwords in it.
abhinavk··on IPv6 traffic crosses the 50% mark
Maybe you didn't read the draft. It's either a delayed April's Fool joke or AI slop. Even if you take it seriously, it will require updating every v4 device in existence.
abhinavk··on Mozilla Thunderbolt

The elected president of Iran is more like a Chief of Staff to the actual leader.
abhinavk··on Fix the iOS keyboard before the timer hits zero or I'm switching back to Android
Gboard for iOS has been discontinued though. On top of that, 3rd party keyboards are a bit limited on iOS (which might be a good thing for some people).
abhinavk··on The full history of Windows widgets, from 1997 to today
The previous iteration was actually running on top of webview2.
abhinavk··on A lot of population numbers are fake
Bangladesh has one of the most fertile lands on earth producing rice (which can feed 5x people wheat does), no desert and a little bit of mountains (hills actually). Gangetic Plains are also in Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. These places are not comparable to anywhere in the world sans East China.

niri also uses smithay. jay is its own thing.
abhinavk··on The dank case for scrolling window managers
I have been using niri for almost an year now. First with waybar, now with Quickshell (which DankMaterialShell is baed upon).

There are many other implementations of this paradigm if niri doesn't feel/work right to you.

- PaperWM (for Gnome; the original)

- mangowc (dwm rewrite but has a scrolling mode)

- scroll (fork of sway)

- papersway (based on sway)

- hyperscrolling (hyprland plugin)

- karousel (for KDE)

- PaperWM.spoon (for macOS)

- komorebi (for Windows)

abhinavk··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
That's still using Cachy's kernel. Cachy uses a different scheduler and compiles for x86_64_v3 instruction set. It won't get you a world-shattering boost but ~5% is what comes up in benchmarks.
