still, with 99% of the available hardware without RT capabilities, someone has to handle it somehow, so the pitch in any way was pure marketing gymnastics at best

aPoCoMiLogin··on ChatGPT Hype Is Proof Nobody Understands AI
even if you classify it as riddle, you still need intelligence to "solve it", which is what is missing in LLM. the good answer you later got was probably prompt created by someone manually, to further feed the model.

did you need more data to solve the riddle ? rather more attention to what you read than more data, and that's the sole issue with AI/ML in current form.

that sounds like it still adds way to spot the nuke and intercept it.

the mayor issue is the coal/gas lobby, just look how europe was lobbed to the point that natural gas is somewhat "green", but nuclear is bad to the point some countries don't even have one nuclear power plant.

aPoCoMiLogin··on Ask HN: 2FA for Credit Cards?
I believe all banks implemented SMS and an APP, and some banks also have hardware OTP tokens
aPoCoMiLogin··on Ask HN: 2FA for Credit Cards?
it doesn't have to be an app, it can be SMS

aPoCoMiLogin··on New study lays out hidden backstory behind deadly Pacific Northwest heat wave
not op but was in same situation for few years as in my region A/C is somehow luxury and a lot of landlords don't mount them.

the issue with portable A/C is that most of the units needs to stay inside apartment, the cooling happens by compression/decompression of coolant, which produces heat and cold. so the A/C unit is producing additional heat that it needs to chill, which makes it inefficient. also these units are loud as fuck, most of them above 65dB.

so if you are in need, look for units that have the ability to channel cold air to the house from outside. otherwise you should always avoid portable A/C as it is really inefficient.

here's better explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-mBeYC2KGc

aPoCoMiLogin··on Bearer tokens are just awful
that's not how it works. the step 4 should be more like: the continue button forwards the client with temporary code (usually in query string), that can be used to request token, with combination of additional secret token (that should remain private/secret), by backend application.

the client never sees the final token, unless the SiteA returns the token to the client, or the exchange of the code happens on the client side. in both cases these are the definitions of incorrect implementation, as the exchange should take place in the backend.

in most implementation you can/should send additional parameters like `nonce` or `state`, which can/should be used to protect against reply/forgery attacks.

aPoCoMiLogin··on Running IntelliJ Idea with JDK 17 for Better Render Performance with Metal
If anyone is interested why this is even a thing, you can see here [0] how every change in the IDE repaints whole window, thus eats CPU like mad. On the MacOS with external 4k+ monitor, this really tanks even macpro, like there is no GPU acceleration at all and everything is rendered by the CPU.

i'm not the OP but I think it might be the issue with exposing pi-hole to the internet to access the dns outside of your home network. nextdns is cheap, i'm using it on all my devices, without the hassle to expose pi-hole to the internet.
