Also not being stuck on an ancient version of Android - though I don't know what the custom ROM community for that phone is like, perhaps some soul is still porting newer versions to it.
Now sure, that requires some extra effort and time from the user but it's just the situation we are in currently. Not like you have any other current options for an open mobile system outside of being an early adopter of GNU/Linux phones and their ecosystems.
Didn't particularly like mann up as a) it costs money for each tour and b) it heavily incentivized you to win by giving you the chance to win a expensive shiny golden gun, which in return made players just develop some meta which they religiously sticked to and vote kick you for deviating from it even a tiny bit, or god forbid making even the slightest mistake. From my experience most players were in it for those items which they could sell for a profit, actual fun be damned.
Amen. I was playing a lot of pyro around that time, getting really good at the airblast + flare combo. Then the update came around which completed changed airblast physics and nerfed a bunch of stuff (imo needlessly) and I stopped playing regularly shortly afterwards. I still run a couple of servers to this day with third party bots but haven't fired up the game for a couple of years now.
For instance, personally I have everything gaming related set up inside an Arch container so I can trivially follow upstream (or the master branch for Mesa) without any friction and it works wonderfully.
Also setting Coolbits doesn't seem to work either on my end, which means no overclocking support for the Nvidia GPU (if that's something you care about).
- As mentioned by another commenter you will not be able to run random binaries by default. You can use nix-alien[2] which will automatically fetch the required libraries and build an FHS environment for the binary.
- It is significantly more bandwidth- / rebuild-heavy. If an input for a derivation changes it will trigger a rebuild, which means either a redownload from the binary cache or a recompilation.

Recently made the jump to NixOS though and been really happy with the additional features it offers.
That entirely depends on the distro you use. Any "mainstream" distro should already have power saving tools set up properly. Of course if you use something more DIY like Arch you will have to set those up yourself. You can't just group every distro together as "Linux" when you will get a different experience on each one.
> I want to see Linux automatically scale the CPU power and frequency based on the load put on it like Windows does: idles at 600MHz when doing nothing, click on the Firefox tab and it shoots up to 3,6GHz, then back down to 800MHz. That's what any sane OS should do out of the box, not have you install and fiddle with a bunch of tools and maybe still not be as good.
Unless you are using the performance or powersave governors (except with intel-pstate active) that's already what it should be doing. Once again you shouldn't have to tinker with that stuff on any sane distro.
Alternatively if you are rooted Xprivacy[0] does what you asked, allowing you to grant apps permissions but then feeding them fake data as configured.
No idea about iOS though.
EDIT: There seems to be an app called Insular[1] which also works like Xprivacy, but doesn't require root at all and comes with a couple of extra features like the ability to have multiple instances of an app installed. Haven't tried this one though and I have no idea if it even runs on newer versions of Android.
