You hate dogs. Not we.
Second, I don't let my dog roam around and I am very well aware of people being anxious, but clearly you just hate on anything with dogs and are ranting here.

Except, you know, I have a big dog and he does exactly that. Laying on his bed all day.
Should we also ban roses, because some people don't like them? How about no meat at the workplace because it could bother vegans?
There has to be some kind of compromise by everyone if people want to share a place. Be it accepting that some people love dogs, hate roses,....
At the end, if the majority likes something, you are on the losing end in a shared environment at least (as bad as that sounds). One could also argue it is rather selfish that you want a shared environment to suit your needs only.
If something bothers you that much then you have to somehow find a compromise. Maybe you can sit away from the dog owner coworkers or something or create "dog areas" and "no-dog areas." (Another compromise, like I mentioned).
Same with dogs. How does a dog that lays on his bed all day next to his owner bother you?
It's just a rant from the guy because he had some bad experiences with dogs.
THe problem (regardless of office or not) is not that dogs are allowed, but rather dogs not behaving.
With OpenVPN you will bottleneck at ~300Mbit\s. With IPSec and Wireguard I have had no issues getting ~900Mbit\s to my own server.
Then I use wireguard to connect it to my home network and make it act like a server in the home network. (All the traffic even gets directed through home)
I still have the main storage server locally though because otherwise I'd not be able to even watch movies if my internet went down.
My dream would be an all SSD storage server being near silet.

I really think these are dangerous times and for some reason I only ever expected this from the US but never from Canada or New Zealand.
Until some weeks ago I was less unhappy with Google Chrome than with firefox, but now I am kind of almost equal unhappy with both...
But times have changed and people love to downvote here these days.
I do not understand your point of view. Should we stop saying thanks in our daily life? Because it does not really do anything for anyone....
To me the following two messages give off two totally different vibes:
'Hi, can you implement <Feature that takes a month of work>? Thanks!'
'Can you implement <Feature that takes a month of work>?'
The software is on GitHub (https://github.com/Codeux-Software/Textual) and you can compile it yourself and, thus, remove the "you gotta pay" checks and such. If you can do that you are free to do that... or you can just pay for it and don't have to bother. It's not crazy expensive ($5.99), but I decided to go for the former just because it was more fun to me. If I had used his software for much longer and more often, I'd have eventually paid for it, I suppose.
Can you not be annoyed by something without starting to shake every time? Especially if you try to interpret rudeness as sexism...
I guess it is not even meant for me (a single developer with a small project) then!
Infosys alone has 33000 applications in 2016. Google only had 4000. These numbers include renewals, but still.
I for one care more about less stress, less inequality, etc. and decided that the Bay Area is not for me.
