YuccaGloriosa··on Seagrass 'Neptune balls’ sieve millions of plastic particles from water
So I see this as a challenge on how to produce artificial balls to capture the plastics and remove them on a massive floating boom. I'll take 10%, you're welcome.
YuccaGloriosa··on Google Fi support goes silent after admitting coverage is “nonexistent” in area
It's the SOP of most customer support to force you around the theatrical hamster wheel
YuccaGloriosa··on Facebook Reinstates Trump's Account
I'm guessing they are letting him have access to the rope to metaphorically hang himself with.
YuccaGloriosa··on WhatsApp delays privacy changes following backlash
With a splash of governmental assistance, I'm sure they can side step the whole encryption issue - for the normal children/terrorist/organised crime reasons
YuccaGloriosa··on WhatsApp delays privacy changes following backlash
I can envisage a pivot to a wechat style monopoly on everyday life interactions. If they can hold on to their market share... And we all sleep walk into it.

Restaurant reviews are useful... That sounds a lot like Google's recent advertising push...

YuccaGloriosa··on George Orwell is out of copyright. What happens now?
"a robot from 1984" Isn't that a reference to a robot dancing style popularised around the time period of the year 1984. Not robots dancing in the book 1984?

Just some thoughts.

TCI wasn't a startup. So it can't be compared to 2020 startups in this way. Because...you are starting the comparison at a different point in the companies life.

This is comparing markets almost 50 years apart. Motives and reasoning just aren't what they used to be.

TCI had assets to borrow against. TCI had a monopoly in their areas, and existing customer base. They gamed the tax system for profit. They weren't looking for over valuations from Wall Street with a view to selling out for the $$$

Ok I'm bored now

YuccaGloriosa··on How I Collected a Debt from an Unscrupulous Merchant
I was thinking what a straight up bloke the author was. Then I got to the end of his blog, to read....Hey "Get to the top of HN, here's how"... ...meh

YuccaGloriosa··on Samsung phones force Mainland China DNS service upon Hong Kong users
Why am I not surprised? How does the leverage to do this kind of stuff happen?
YuccaGloriosa··on Samsung TV owners complain about increasingly obtrusive ads
This is why I see that the push for 5G as some kind of magic everyone is (supposedly) asking for, to make their lives better, is a fraud.

It will be the end of privacy completely. EVERYTHING always on and serving ads, collecting telemetry and logging everything. There will be no way to shut them down.

My TV has been relieved of all internet connection privileges, and it's staying that way.

YuccaGloriosa··on [dead]
They fail to mention any details of the offending set. Should it be the consumers responsibility to ensure their "old" devices don't elude professional installers detection? But 18 months, just incredible.
YuccaGloriosa··on WikiLeaks 9/11 Files
Yes, It's totally reasonable that someone could have been routinely capturing all the pager data. Normally over a very large service area (possibly nationally) Yes, the data can be captured passively. It's just data (sounds a bit like old fashioned modems ) being broadcast over radio frequency. You just hook up a radio scanner to a pc, and run software to decode the tone, creating a huge text log, that contains all the messages.

YuccaGloriosa··on Austrailia to Catch Drivers on the Horn
This is much more invasive than just taking license/registration plates of offender's vehicles.

Are all Tesla driver's likely to be prosecuted for using their big phone screens?

If this is acceptable, what's to stop CCTV trained into private homes. The principle is the same, if you consider both to be a private space.

YuccaGloriosa··on Boston Dynamics: Spot Launch and More Parkour Atlas
Mugs of tea delivered all over site by robot dog WILL increase productivity.

Interesting to see Boston actually try to get the dogs into the market place...they just need to now be clear what that market is, above monitoring staff.
