However, after careful consideration, I realized that: 1. I am not entirely sure if my enthusiasm will be enough to push me through a PhD 2. You can obtain a great skill set, meet loads of smart people and work on intellectually stimulating problems in industry, too.
That's why I plan to work for some time and then re-evaluate my situation and maybe apply for a PhD, who knows.
W.r.t the device - as I said, some nice features but I am not a big fan of plastic phones. It might sound funny, but I like that I can 'feel' my iPhone when I'm holding it.
I don't like Galaxy's look but I quite like some of its features and I think they should re-think their next presentation very carefully and try make it look less cheap.
Now, similar to the OP I keep having issues with Chrome, the biggest of which is its memory usage.
"Memory usage is off the charts and I frequently have tabs become completely unresponsive."
In my case, it not only eats 2GB of my RAM, but also takes a bit proportion of my hard-disk. I did a quick experiment yesterday and measured my FREE HDD space before closing Chrome and after that.
Before: 800 MB free. After: 10.9 GB free :)
It's true I keep a lot of tabs open (>70), but 10GB.. I think that's too much. Now, I'm considering switching back to Firefox, too.
First, I would suggest adding a demo video on the front page. If you like your page to have as little content as possible - that's fine, but unless you add something small that tells a lot (like a video), I suggest many people will just give up very early on.
Second, the "used by" section. I think that if you manage to get testimonials from individuals, it will look better and feel more personal.
"SYNCED PRESENTATIONS TO ALL DEVICES" - I don't get why this is formatted this way? I'd put it in the center with another smaller sentence underneath that briefly summarises the product.
I think what you offer is pretty neat (if I have managed to understand it correctly) but I feel you should do a bit more work re: selling it better.
Side note: 2 weeks ago there was a hackathon at our university (Edinburgh) and in the Travel category one of the teams tried to do exactly the same thing. However, they only implemented the NLP part as they were using data via Skyscanner's API. Our entry[1] had a similar flavour, but rather than typing, one could select their cities and we did the planning for them.
As part of a university course, I wrote a blog post on why scripting languages should be encouraged by the university professors for courseworks and how this will help students learn more.
What is your opinion on the topic?
I just received my 5% email too by the way.
