While not as quick as a crypto transfer, wise is remarkably fast when comparing it to the US banking system at least. The person you're paying does need a wise account and their banking details entered in it, but beyond that the funds are ACH'd out of my account and converted to their own local currency and deposited directly into their bank accounts.
It does look like they have an api [1] too though as I only have two people I'm paying with it I've always just entered it manually.

The actual product though sorta like that didn't really work out that well. First it wasn't really whole house it was more room based.. and since all my TV equipment was all in one place the point at it and it knows which item it is trick didn't really work as hoped.. not to mention when watching TV you don't really want to have to think about where you are pointing the remote.. and then yeah just using a touch screen instead of buttons was awkward.
Long story short, I still actually do have the remote plugged in.. but haven't used it since I set it up several years ago.
It's sad that they're shutting down. I really did want to like their product. But if everyone had the same experience as me I can't say I'm super surprised.
It's absolutely true that new cases are dropping and active cases are dropping as well but if you look at active cases everything peaked about a month after Christmas to the end of Jan before starting to decline this month. Easter is coming up on April 4th. If enough people have the vaccine + enough people have gotten it to cause herd immunity then active cases will continue to drop throughout March and April. But if the holidays are the main cause for this to spread (as in people ignore the "rules" and intermingle with non-household members as the holidays encourage) I predict another wave in April. The wave hopefully will at least be less severe then the Christmas wave was, but I do think the planet isn't out of the water yet.
Email is one of the last modes of communication we have on the Internet that can still fully work w/o any big company controlling it and I think that is something worth preserving.

After trying to contact HBO Max and HBO Now they both refused to acknowledge the issue so I just canceled my subscription. The only option I would have to watch on both devices would be to sign back up to HBO Max directly instead of HBO via amazon, but I'm good. They lost me as their customer due to their squabble with Amazon.
If you want what they are selling, then it does work quite well.. but there are drawbacks.. one primarily.. that made me end up not using it for my whole network and only on my ipad when I don't want ads in a game.
As mentioned in other comments, you can whitelist domains, but unlike the whitelist in ublock or something in your browser, this means you need to know the exact ad server domain/domains. For example if I want ads on for certain websites to help support or troubleshoot my own site then I'm unable to do that or if the wife needs to see an ad in her game to get gems, you have to dig through the logs to find out what ad server its calling.. or set up another profile to not block any ads.
In short, you're not whitelisting the domain you're visiting, you need to whitelist every domain that website might call too. Perhaps most people are okay with then and if so then ignore :)
Another thing I didn't like, which I mean makes sense, but in order to label a device you need to run their client. I had set up nextdns on my router which worked great, but if I wanted different devices to have different rulesets they each needed to run the nextdns client. So good luck knowing which smart device is calling what because you're not going to be installing the client on your Alexa. One other downside of this which honestly I probably could have fixed was their client broke WSL network connections so on my primary device I ended up operating in logged out mode.
That said, I might end up giving it another shot at some point but running on a very limited set of rules rather then the pretty comprehensive rulesets I had enabled. I did like how it blocked the device telemetry calls.. perhaps that is all I need to block and then handle everything else client side.
Hope this helps someone!
I don't have the data yet from one of my two ad providers, but the one that does provide me real time data I can see a 35% drop in ad revenue this month compared to Feb while having about a 31% bump in traffic.
but.. something doesn't look right here..
OP is a throwaway account created today, which I can understand for this type of thing.. but...
they withheld the bank name in the title/desc.. okay again a responsible thing to do.. but...
when asked what the bank name was in the comments they were not shy at naming it..
Something just doesn't feel right. Why the sudden change of heart?
For everyone's sake I hope I'm right, that this is just FUD.. to the OP if you really are serious I'm sorry, and please do report this ASAP.
Pros and Cons list for using 3rd party login ONLY
Pro: user doesn't need to sign up, just logs in
Con: If your account is terminated by the third party for any reason then it can't be used to log in anymore. YouTube recently terminated peoples google accounts for using emoji's over and over again in a live stream after the streamer told them to do so for example.
Con: If the user closes their account on their own accord for that third party site they can't log into your site anymore either.
Con: If the third party terminates the developers account for any reason then no users can log in at all!
So yeah, if you're designing a website/app/anything with a login system, please please please always allow a user to create an account on your system too. It's fine if you want to give the user who don't care the option to log in via the third party, but I and many others will flat out not use your service.
1) Presence. Right now Google often doesn't know WHO is watching YouTube, whether it be the logged in user or someone else in the house. If they know you're watching on a desktop or TV but your activity shows you're walking around its likely you're not actively watching or someone else is. They could hold off on showing an ad or not target it directly to you until they think you're there to watch it.
2) Involvement. Wasn't exactly sure what to call this but what I mean by this is they can measure your heart rate to see how you react to various things you're looking at now. There might already be studies on how best to control peoples heart rates when buying something or keep them watching longer but if not they'll be able to do a ton of machine learning to test this out. This can help determine when to run ads on YouTube videos to keep you from clicking off or when the optimal time would be to show you an ad to cause you to buy something.
1) I hate the mobile only interface. It's nice to have one, but no desktop interface (unless I run an emulator) is really annoying when trying to manage and monitor the network.
2) You need to have a s-H-s type topology where each satellite connects directly to the main unit. Thankfully most areas of my house are hardwired so I can plug them in, but there are some areas that don't have good coverage that I'd love to chain another satellite to, but its too far for it to reach the hub over wifi (no cable is run), and it doesn't support branching off of another satellite.
For the new system it looks like their solution to #1 is to put the controls into an even worse app...
For item #2, anyone know if it will support s-s-s-s-H chaining?
On a related note.. I actually got into a support chat with them once asking about that and their support rep said it didn't work because my cable modem had nat enabled and if I turned that off it'd work great facepalm. After a lengthy discussion he thanked me for teaching him about networking.

It seems like I'm not the only one annoyed at nest lately though. I actually backed a indiegogo last week called Camect that hopefully will fix a lot of these issues and you don't even need to replace the nest cameras, though you can if you want to. I recommend checking it out!
