TruthElixirX··on From Mr Average to Superman: Craig Davidson's account of using steroids (2008)
Fun fact:

When anabolic steroids were banned by congress in the U.S., the DEA, AMA, NIDA, and FDA were all against the ban saying they were harmless [1], and they mostly are, especially if taken with doctor supervision.

Now they have been pushed underground (unless you have the money to doctor shop) and you get all sorts of bro science around them which can be a real problem.

Thank science the U.S. government is saving us from ourselves.

Again, surgeons and engineers have to take certifications to prove they have the credentials they speak of.

They would have to forge documents on top of lying on their resumes.

You're really drifting from lying to fraud.

TruthElixirX··on Man accused of teaching people to beat lie detector tests faces prison
You don't check a resume to see if someone is able to perform a task, especially CPR. There are certifications for that.

Pretty much anything remotely safety critical these days relies on some sort of licensing, so you would have to create a fake document certifying yourself.

Your example is so fucking contrived it isn't funny.

TruthElixirX··on Man accused of teaching people to beat lie detector tests faces prison
It shouldn't be a criminal offense. It should be a civil tort.

Please explain the rationale of using jail to punish someone for lying on a resume. How does that make the world a better place?

TruthElixirX··on Man accused of teaching people to beat lie detector tests faces prison
I am not arguing whether or not it is prosecutable, I am arguing whether or not it is fucking stupid.

Criminalizing knowledge is bullshit. Why should the burden of ratting people out be placed on this dude? It is such bullshit.

Should it be illegal to tell people how to make meth? What about making alcohol? Should it have been illegal to teach people to make liquor in 1919? What about December 31st 11:59 PM 1918?

This whole thing is fucking stupid and the feds have way more interesting things to do than harass people for telling people how to cheat tests.

Its the same line of thought as suing gun manufacturers for murders or alcohol companies for drunk driving. It removes responsibility from the individual.

Not to mention this was a fucking manufactured crime. Glad every serious crime has been solved so we can bust a dude for teaching people to pass lie detector tests, which are unscientific pieces of garbage to begin with.

TruthElixirX··on Man accused of teaching people to beat lie detector tests faces prison
Is it a crime to lie on a resume then? Is it a crime for me to explain how to lie to you on a resume?

Is it cool to throw someone in jail for explaining the best way to lie?

Every thing is a nail to you people, waiting to be solved with the hammer of violence.

TruthElixirX··on Man accused of teaching people to beat lie detector tests faces prison
Just because it is serious doesn't mean the government isn't stupid. That is why they are dangerous, because they are violent, stupid, and very serious.
TruthElixirX··on Man accused of teaching people to beat lie detector tests faces prison
Hardly a possibility. More of a reality.
TruthElixirX··on Declassified Documents Prove NSA Is Tapping the Internet
I did not confine the oppressors to just the NSA. I said the ruling class.
TruthElixirX··on Declassified Documents Prove NSA Is Tapping the Internet
It was never your country. You are just now filling the full oppression that minorities have been suffering since this country's inception.

In the 80's it wasn't the country for gays. In the 50's it wasn't the country for non-whites. In the 1900's it wasn't the country for women. Before the 1900's it was only old white land owners.

The ruling class has just expanded to not be exclusively old white men. And the oppressed class has expanded in the same way.

You aren't misunderstanding anything. Hospital care in the U.S. is fucking ridiculous for several reasons on a multitude of fronts, this is just one of them.

And the parent comment thinks its reasonable because their livelihood depends on this insane bureaucracy.

LETS TAKE ALL THE WORST PARTS OF FREE MARKET MEDICINE AND THE WORST PARTS OF SOCIALIZED MEDICINE AND PUT IT TOGETHER AND CALL IT THE U.S. HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

Furthermore, what Google product/service are you PAYING for that you aren't getting support for? What Google service/product are you using that has no competitor?

You're talking out your ass.

TruthElixirX··on Buzz Aldrin: Get to Mars within 20 years
That is a shitty reason. 200 billion invested in clean energy or reversing green house gasses would go way further. For Earth to get bad enough that Mars was a viable planet would be fucking insanity.
TruthElixirX··on Buzz Aldrin: Get to Mars within 20 years
>Also, an extension of our country on another planet would probably be the first move toward humans getting past statism entirely. But that's just a guess/hope.

So... have a state settle on Mars instead of a company of people mutually coming together will help us get past statism as a species? Brilliant. Truly brilliant.

>What is the reason behind making works of art?

For fun. But no one is forcing me to fund their bullshit on Etsy.

>What is the utility of music?

For fun. But no one is forcing me to fund their EP on Kickstarter.

>Alcohol is a waste of resources.

It isn't a waste if people enjoy it. And no one is forcing me to help get them hammered.

>Climbing mountains is a needless risk.

Its fun and no one asked me to pay for their fucking climbing ropes.

>I'm sure the egyptians didn't have to build the pyramids.

You're right, they didn't. They were a fucking useless piece of shit built by self appointed gods for ego stroking. They were a huge waste of human labor and resources. They provided next to no utility and the only reason they are worth anything today is because people think they are cool. If the pyramids existed today in a first world country that had something going for it besides tourism the land would be worth more by tearing down the shitty stone structures of oppression.

>Why not take part in something grand?

Because I have limited time on this Earth and I would rather my money go to things that I derive utility from:

* Research into living forever. * Making currently uninhabitable land habitable. * Getting drunk.

I derive no utility from some dudes putting another guy on Mars. There may be some incidental research that I benefit from in the long run, but I have a feeling much more utility would be gained by not spending money on jet fuel to launch something at a fucking rock miles and miles away.

>I understand that there may be yet better alternatives, perhaps you could present some?

There are infinite possibilities. 99.9% of the population of Earth will see absolutely no benefit from someone visiting Mars. In fact, some may even be worse off for it due to the pollution created by blasting shit off into the ether to reach a place that has absolutely nothing of value on it.

Here are just a few different ways you could spend that money (164 Billion dollars):

* Give every person on Earth an ice cream cone. * Research Phage therapy further. * Invest in internet infrastructure. * Invest in transportation infrastructure. * Give out research grants. * Clean up the ocean.

All of that will get way more utility for the vast majority of people than flying to fucking mars.

TruthElixirX··on Buzz Aldrin: Get to Mars within 20 years
Yeah. Because the only two options are to send the money to mars or squander it on public education. Congratulations on solving your own contrived false dichotomy.

I am not really sure why going to Mars is a good idea, and no one has been able to give me an answer outside of new age manifest destiny bullshit.

If you want to research on living in desolate waste lands there are huge swaths of fucking desert.

TruthElixirX··on I don’t understand American healthcare – doesn’t mean I shouldn’t provide it
>Auto insurance is mandatory if you want to drive.

No, it isn't. Unlike almost every other state, New Hampshire does not automatically require motorists to carry an auto liability insurance policy or provide some of financial backing in order to drive a vehicle within its boundaries.

http://www.dmv.org/nh-new-hampshire/car-insurance.php

Further more, you can avoid auto insurance by not driving in most places. You cannot leave your body at home.

TruthElixirX··on I don’t understand American healthcare – doesn’t mean I shouldn’t provide it
The U.S. government also spends more on healthcare per capita than Canada [1]. Seems pretty socialized to me already. The U.S. government is a corrupt piece of shit. Passing laws mandating health insurance for everyone isn't going to fix things.

Furthermore, diseconomies of scale are not just Austrian Economics voodoo.[2]

[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diseconomies_of_scale

TruthElixirX··on I don’t understand American healthcare – doesn’t mean I shouldn’t provide it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_calculation_problem

The federal government can't control healthcare because of this. It would probably work better on a state level (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massachusetts_health_care_refor...).

On top of that I don't think the U.S. economy can handle another massive government program on top of existing ones. I am mostly referring to the wars over seas. No other country spends so much on military. The U.S. spends a ton of money on military (and locking people up for drugs).

If the U.S. stopped those two things I think healthcare will be fine, but it won't. So more shit is just being added to an already inefficient and corrupt government.

Then there is the problem of people deciding that since they pay for your healthcare, they should be telling you how to live. There will be more bands on sugary drinks like in New York (though that was struck down). Or what extreme sports you can play, etc. That really bothers me because it will mean more shit that people aren't allowed to do that only harms themselves.

Bullshit. We live in a horizontal hierarchy enforced vertically. This stiff happens because the people are complacent and complicit.
TruthElixirX··on It's official: CISPA is back
Yay. You understand why this whole process is futile. This bill isn't the problem. This bill is a symptom of the problem. The problem is not going away. The problem is the U.S. federal government.

It is an out of control machine of death seeking to criminalize as much behavior as possible.

The U.S. has the highest incarceration rate. They have the most weapons.

This kind of thing will not end until the government collapses in on itself or people have an entire paradigm shift in the way that they think of their relation to their fellow person.
