Was this written by an infamous 26 yo "senior" developer with 4 years of experience ?

Please explain since you seem to have a PhD in darwinism.

"Im not racist, but..."
Toine··on The slow death of authenticity in an attention economy
It was completely dead and buried at least 5 years ago.
Toine··on Don’t build a general purpose API to power your own front end (2021)
The "Controller" part of an API conceptually belongs to the "presentation" layer.
Toine··on Make microservices look like monoliths
Most devs, even senior, have no clear idea what a modular monolith is, let alone implementing one
Toine··on Goodbye, Twilio
Isn't the main thing to keep the main thing the main thing ?

What does the government have to do with that ?
Toine··on Iran discovers world’s second largest lithium reserve
Keep in mind that the ~1.5B cars + trucks in the entire world combine for only ~10% of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. Also, if your electricity is made by coal power plants there's no point using EV.
Toine··on Rewind: The Search Engine for Your Life
Feels great to see ambitious products like these pop up every now and then. I feel like there are too many boring startups nowadays. Yes, there's a big brother feel to it, but I believe it's a feature, not a bug. Otherwise it might not be innovative enough...

Edit : do you hire EU citizens ? :)

Edit edit : most of the world doesn't use macOS : what's your long-term vision for non Apple silicon users ? On smartphones ? Any plan on a hardware product that literally records everything you say ?

Toine··on Remix web framework aquired by Shopify
I'll stick to NextJS. Remix seemed fishy from the very start.
Toine··on Emmaüs: Thrift Store Shopping in France
Souvenirs, souvenirs...
Toine··on Cold Showers
Anecdotal, but for some reason, when I tell myself "It's just cold water", my fight or flight response instantly goes away.
Toine··on Transparent stairs: what happens when no-one on the design team wears skirts
"You don't need privacy, what do you have to hide ?"
Toine··on Why do you waste so much time on the internet?
100% this, I miss it so much.

Everything having to be scheduled is so depressing and stressful to me. I wish we could go back, but we can't.

Toine··on The rise and fall of crypto culture
Sick of arrogant & condescending comments like this made by ignorant people. You're flexing because you took advantage of a bubble, congratulations, nobody cares, and it's completely irrelevant to the parents comment.
Toine··on Why Germany won’t keep its nuclear plants open
Honestly, I would gladly take 10 major Chernobyl-style accidents each year than what's coming with climate change. It's way, way worse.
Toine··on Maybe you should do less 'work'
From a certain extreme perspective, there is some truth to what you're saying, but wow, this is so one-sided, extreme, partial and damaging. What decades of neo liberal brainwashing has done to people.

This is so sad, really. We are NOT companies, we're not robots only driven by free will, we don't live in an economy. We are hardcore social animals with huge biological & affective needs, this is scientifically proven.

I hope young people don't read this and blindly believe it.

Toine··on Hooks Considered Harmful
It took you a few days to learn a new big & powerful React framework, and your experience apparently was bad, I'm ok with that.

But, sorry : what does that have anything to do with hooks ?

Toine··on Still no consensus on testing private methods
It's impossible to give a generic answer to this, it always depends on the specific domain. But I found that in these cases, there's always a design problem somewhere. Some responsibilities aren't clear, very often not much thought has been put into the design, and most of the time you can't give an immediate answer, which is why a bad design is chosen and causes a lot of damage down the line.
Toine··on Still no consensus on testing private methods
Change your API then.

In this case you usually have 2 classes : a low-level algorithm-specific one, used by a higher-level consumer-centric one.

Most of the time, testing private methods is a poor solution to a larger design problem.
