TinyRick··on American EVs reduced gasoline consumption by just 0.54% in 2021
This is optimistic news, but I'm curious if worldwide gasoline consumption increased or decreased. Unfortunately Mother Nature does not recognize countries, so if the reductions by some countries are offset by increases in other countries, the overall emissions may be the same or worse.

I have never noticed any friction when performing any task on my XPS. I will admit I'm not a Mac/Apple guy myself, so for me it's the opposite (I'm much slower on my work Mac than doing the same thing on my personal Dell)
TinyRick··on Apple blocks Coinbase Wallet
I have a Dell XPS from around 2018 that I run arch on. Only issue I've had is needing to replace the battery once due to swelling (very easy to swap), but otherwise the hardware and specs are on par with my work assigned Macbook.

QT is not raising interest rates, it is reducing the balance sheet: https://www.investopedia.com/quantitative-tightening-6361478

QT quite clearly did not start in any meaningful way in 2015.

TinyRick··on The life-changing effects of hallucinations
Sounds like they had some underlying issues if they were doing "lots" of hard drugs at age 15. Hallucinogens likely didn't cause their issues, just made them more apparent.
TinyRick··on The life-changing effects of hallucinations
I absolutely agree that non-experienced users should start off with low doses, no more than 100μg. I am very experienced with psychedelics and knew what I was getting into when I took higher amounts. My point was simply that low doses may not result in "life changing experiences", for some to experience that (such as myself) higher doses may be required.
TinyRick··on The life-changing effects of hallucinations
Dosage matters a lot. 100-200μg of LSD doesn't do much for me, but 400-500μg is just right for a profound experience. YMMV.

TinyRick··on Coinmarketcap is showing BTC price $800B USD
Not sure that I agree that it "does not impact trading" since so much trading is done by bots / algorithms these days. Bad data definitely impacts trading.

I think what they mean is that no one can actually sell for these inflated prices, since each trade requires two parties, and no one is buying at these prices.

TinyRick··on Chef to be acquired by Progress
A lot of recommendations for Salt here, but wanted to point out they have had a pretty poor track record of security vulnerabilities. Something to keep in mind when evaluating alternatives.

TinyRick··on Chef to be acquired by Progress
I disagree that it's "long dead". Keep in mind that Chef (the company) has several different products too...Chef Infra (traditional configuration management) has fallen out of favor and Ansible seems to be the popular choice these days, but there are still a lot of big Chef Infra shops (e.g. Facebook [0]) that have invested heavily into configuring their environments using Chef Infra, which would require a good bit of investment to switch tools.

Plus, they have been diversifying their products in recent years with things like Habitat (application packaging/deployment) and security/compliance tools (InSpec).

Your first sentence insinuates that Jabber is insecure. Could you elaborate on that? Just genuinely curious, since I used jabber/otr for a while to communicate with friends.
