TimCinel··on Estimating Value of Facebook by Paying Users to Stop Using It
No it doesn't.
TimCinel··on Terrorist attack in France
Pretty soon attacks like these (Religiously-motivated muslim terrorists killing large numbers of innocent people) will be happening every week or even every day, I fear.
TimCinel··on Uber seeking to buy self-driving cars: source
Long term, driverless cars are going to happen so they might as well get in early.

If you can't beat them, join them.

TimCinel··on Millennials Flee Vancouver for More Affordable Cities
I have the same belief, but for a different reason. I think autonomous vehicles will make city centers become less important.
TimCinel··on Show HN: My Property Tracker, with automated data entry
Not at all surprised that some Sydneysiders appear to be behind this investment property portfolio management app, haha.

Nice work, I really do expect you guys to get a lot of attention. Have you guys hit up Whirlpool forums?

TimCinel··on Uber.gov – It’s Time to Let the Government Drive
I cannot agree. No investment should be exempt from risk, not even government-enforced monopolies.
TimCinel··on Show HN: Minecraft clone in 2500 lines of C - even supports multiplayer online
Builds easily on OS X using provided instructions. Loads quickly. Renders at least 30fps, probably more.
TimCinel··on BitcoinMessenger - Send a public message using the Bitcoin blockchain
What will you do with the dust?
TimCinel··on Amazon Unveils Delivery By Drone
Just last week I was having what I thought was a fanciful conversation with a friend about exactly this. I'm amazed to see this materialise and very interested to see how the regulation process is handled.
TimCinel··on A Prediction: Bitcoin Is Doomed to Fail
If BTC is trading higher than $1, everybody would buy the undervalued BTC for $1 and sell at the market rate. If BTC is trading lower than $1, everybody would buy BTC at market rate and sell the overvalued BTC for $1.

Both cases lead to significant losses for whoever is trying to peg BTC to some arbitrary constant value.

TimCinel··on Cruise Sheet: Find cruise deals
What's with the trailing "8" on every page, is it a typo or does it mean something more? ;)
TimCinel··on BitTorrent Sync comes to Android
I really do hope a BTSync protocol spec is released.

Not sure if there are any efforts being made at reverse engineering. Maybe it would make a good project =)

TimCinel··on Don't Even Think of Using Encryption Software to Escape NSA Scrutiny
It's not really useful in defending this point because the threat doesn't scale.

The NSA can't hire enough heavies to break fingers of every person sending and receiving encrypted data (assuming they could even find the people sending and receiving it without first decrypting).

Do you mean Faraday?
TimCinel··on A plea for better open source etiquette
Gulp. I'm guilty of this. An iOS component I shared became quite popular.

Now I don't even do iOS development anymore, Xcode is out of date, I haven't even used ARC. Whenever people poke me, saying that the issues and PRs are piling up, I tell them my situation and ask what they suggest I do. Surprisingly, my responses get no response.

Perhaps I should just add some of the past contributors to the commit access list.

TimCinel··on Google: Do what you want with Reader, but don't kill CalDAV
There's Baikal Server[1], which is a pretty neat project that allows you to host and manage several CalDAV and CardDAV accounts on a server. Have been running it for nearly two months with absolutely no issue.

Nobody's pulling the rug out from under me. Except me.
