ThierryRkt··on I used D3/React to transform raw GitHub data into an interactive map
Hi HN, I've always wondered how to transform public GitHub profile data into something more tangible and understandable at a glance like follower locations. So I decided to build a web tool using D3. I chose React for rendering, built a custom TypeScript geocoder to map raw user locations to ISO country codes, and let D3 handle the map projection and svg generation.

No signup or anything like this needed, and the Personal Access Token is optional, you just put any github user name and lunch it.

ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: How do you handle the actual situation with so much AI noises
You're right, it's under the pressure that we progress the most. For once, I stepped out of my comfort zone and chatted with strangers more than ever before. x'D

Btw What's your project ?

ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: What are you working on(2026)?
Good idea, I will try to help him for that
ThierryRkt··on How do you guys keep up with AI news?
I Just follow those I consider as among of the best in my field, I skipped everything that smells too much marketing and I avoid things like "X thing is dead..".

Thanks for pointing this, will keep that in mind.

Also thanks, as just by your comment I've discovered that there is a way to format comments :) https://news.ycombinator.com/formatdoc

Absolutely right ! Just received the first feedback by commenting on a post :) and for that, thanks HN !
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: What are you working on(2026)?
I also thought that, but actually if you take a look. He take time to share real feedback. I think, that deserves to be shown, as many many projects didn't received any feedback and getting just one makes you feel better and motivate
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: What are you working on(2026)?
Waouh! really appreciate this feedback
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: What are you working on(2026)?
Yeah, you're completely right. A lot of them don't put their location on their profile, and their stats really vary. But I've noticed many US users do add their location.Talking about that, I will add stats on what percentage are located
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: How do you handle the actual situation with so much AI noises
You describe in few sentenses perfectly what happens now. Need some time to accept the actual situation, the shift hits too hard though
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: How do you handle the actual situation with so much AI noises
Yeah that's I noticed, but I need some time before being able to publish on Show HN

My project are trying to respond to this question: "Where is your GitHub network building from?"? I called it GitHub Audience Atlas. It visualizes a GitHub user's network and shows them on a map by categories: followers, following, and ghosts (those who don't follow you back).

ThierryRkt··on Where is your GitHub network building from?
Next features : - convert the visualization into images/canvas - Zoom on country - being able to unfollow multiple user - show audience with no location
ThierryRkt··on Help me be accountable with my time
Good, I've started following you on X. No need to pay $20 for that x'D
ThierryRkt··on Are we getting dumber, or is the world just changing?
That reminds me of a video that depicts the 2050 generation as asking GPT how to say "Hi" at a job interview. It's not real, but we are pretty close to it x'D
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: How do you manage too many open tabs?
I don't really control them, it just when I feel the system response becomes slow, I close every tab I don't need anymore.
ThierryRkt··on Help me be accountable with my time
How is that possible x'D For that point, I can’t help you, sorry
ThierryRkt··on Help me be accountable with my time
The best advice I've recieved was writen down what you made today and what you want to do the next, then next day you repeat the same process... But don't be rude with yourself, its like building a new habit it takes time and so you will probably missed some days
ThierryRkt··on Help me be accountable with my time
x'D I feel you, I was also in same case as it tooks me months before shipping the first version of my side project. I am also an economist and we called it "Commitment Device" so don't feel ashamed as it's normal. I am honestly curious, what it will become
ThierryRkt··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (July 2026)
I built a web tool that visualizes the distribution of any GitHub user's followers, following, and ghosts (those who don't follow back) on a world map.

It's an open-source project, as I really love building in public (this gets me more feedback and positive criticism on my errors so I can improve). It is still under development and the responsiveness needs some work, but you can check it here: - source code : https://github.com/ThierryRakotomanana/Github-Audience-Atlas... - live demos : https://github-audience-atlas.vercel.app/

I already try to post it as "Show HN" but unfortunately I always got "..Please slow down" message, I don't know why..
