TheHumanist··on Aromas while sleeping spark cognitive increase: study
But you were more cognitively in-shape than ever before!! Right??
TheHumanist··on New talking therapy for depression could be more effective and cheaper than CBT
But DBT is talk therapy. I'm not familiar with IFS. DBT is still talk therapy while perhaps having a more active aspect to it as well. I can see how that would be more successful for some folks for sure!

Your nav menu on mobile doesn't collapse once you select an item. Couodnt tell if the link worked or not until I closed the menu. Maybe have it collapse on click?
TheHumanist··on Body Doubling for ADHD – A Primer
I'm 40 and have ADHD. Unlike what seems to be the common case ( ADHD symptoms lessening or abating as you age), my symptoms are worse now than they ever were.

It is beyond exhausting. I get to the end of every single day and look around wondering what the hell I've actually accomplished today.

I will spend wasted hours each day hoping ebteren tabs in my browser and just so very distracted.

I have noticed that when my significant other gets home from work, I am able to focus a bit better and get some stuff accomplished. I'm guessing that is some body doubling.

Interesting read.

TheHumanist··on Brian Eno albums available in Dolby Atmos and Spatial
And, some people enjoy collecting movies.

Same with music.

TheHumanist··on Excellence is a habit, but so is failure
Man you just hit me hard with this... Also add one insanely overbearing mother that expects straight As and a perfect child, on top of some bullying and such... Really leads you to just want to curl up and not take risks anymore. I've just been discovering, through the aid of therapy, just how much my mother has affected my whole life up to this point. I love her and she was doing her best. I really believe she was, based on her mother (oof, even more insane lol). Man has it done a number on me in every way you can imagine. I only mention this because your piece of essentially having the fear to move any personal projects to portfolio projects is very real with me,as well.

Side-note... How old are you? What frameworks? What personal projects? I'm 40 and just REALLY beginning this journey into coding and as much as I love it it is also insanely overwhelming because of reasons you started and also my terrible ADHD. So hard to stay focused on learning a piece at a time. My brain wants to open all the links, check out all the courses and YouTube videos... And it becomes too much.

TheHumanist··on Tell HN: Yahoo Mail deletes all emails due to inactivity
I'd also argue that if there are emails on that account that are important.... And it's a temp email address for a specific event... Forward the important stuff to a more frequently used email account? Maybe?
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Build a discord/Slack bot to answer questions with your docs and GPT4
Really interesting. What's the charge for trying it out
TheHumanist··on OpenAI Lobbied the E.U. To Water Down AI Regulation
Could you elaborate on why calling him an empty soul are pretty kind words?
TheHumanist··on Loops Across Space
Would you say his writings are over the head of most readers? If not, what are a couple you would start with? Would Permutation City be understandable to a lot of people? You just make him seem like he's writing about very complex topics haha
TheHumanist··on LangChain Guide to Get Started
For those of us that are not on the level of senior engineers or even non-senior engineers, it is an interesting way to get more exposure and practice with all of this. I would have no idea where to start if I wanted to do some of the stuff I can do with langchain. Not that's it is world-changing but my dev knowledge just hasn't reached that point yet (but I would love for it to). Learning to do all this on my own in better and more efficient manners would be incredible but I wouldn't even know where to start.
TheHumanist··on Top secret U.S. Navy system heard titan implosion days ago
I think they mean from the perspective of the heartless suits at news companies and/or their parent conglomerates, this was a 'great' story. Lots of eyes. People checking back in for updates. ie. Lots of clicks and clickthroughs
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: Advice on starting a YouTube channel?
Will try this. Thanks!
TheHumanist··on Let's Talk about ChatGPT with Code Interpreter and Microsoft Copilot
The thing I've used browsing for the most is linking to lengthy markdown files for large initial prompts with heavy detail. It works alright. Not perfect but decent.
TheHumanist··on Let's Talk about ChatGPT with Code Interpreter and Microsoft Copilot
Wondering this as well
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Open sourcing Harmonic, my Android Hacker News client
It really is very sleek and beautifully minimalistic. Don't downplay your achievements! It's a great app.
TheHumanist··on Open Source Realtime Voice Changer
I mean git doubles as cloud for me to hop between machines and keep working on a project... So I literally just "." most of the time lol
TheHumanist··on Open Source Realtime Voice Changer
Oh man. That's not just me? Haha nice.
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Huddleverse, a social mental health app
Love to hear your response to the top comment!
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Huddleverse, a social mental health app
Basically Whisper at that point... Which I'm sure gets weird lol
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Build GPT-powered apps with just GPT4 prompting
Just a little heads up. Your footer is all messed up on mobile.

Specifically the 'need support' and 'join Discord' piece

TheHumanist··on Jarvis: An Experiment Leveraging the Open AI API, Apple Homekit, and Siri
Siri's Wife response
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Jarvis AI – your dedicated concierge for anything
Super confused where you are seeing this hate? There's only like 20 comments. You've got to be able to handle critiques and there's always going to be haters. Doesn't mean people don't like it overall. Or was this all an April Fools joke?
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Jarvis AI – your dedicated concierge for anything
Maybe provide what you tried and what happened so they could potentially help you figure out what went wrong?
TheHumanist··on Show HN: Jarvis AI – your dedicated concierge for anything
Was that like ChaCha?
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
My phone number is known by so many companies. I really don't care about that. I just really find it interesting and it's very useful as a support with coding.
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
That's starting point really is very draining for some of us. Sounds like you too. The dead-eyed, blink-once-every-two-minutes stare while moving through documentation, stack override, Google, etc.
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
No real knowledge of volleyball or Manga but either way that is pretty hilarious. Also how lazy? Lol Even if you have AI do your work, at least proofread it.... And fact check.
TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
Plus, even if it is just regurgitating top links, if is something you can ask a question and then go to another tab to do something for a minute and then come back and there is exactly what you asked. Ignoring ads, you still have to comb through so much text of information that is, at that time, uesless to your needs when you go to any of those top links.

Plus, GPT is likely pulling from multiple sources at once and VERY quickly.

I'm so confused by the people that keep arguing this about just using Google. It's clear why it is easier to use GPT. Is it always correct? No. But, are you certain the info on the site you just navigated to through Google search results is any more correct? If it is a topic you know nothing about them how would you be any wiser either way?

TheHumanist··on Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive?
It's not bad at all, really. But, it's a privately owned company that doesn't want to incorporate that material into their product. That is totally their right and doesn't have anything to do with them deciding what is right or wrong. I mean, ir be lying if I said I don't enjoy porn now and then. I did a LOT more when I was younger. But, I absolutely get why they don't want to bring that into their product.
