TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
There actually is a logical reason and that reason is they can only produce and provide so much in a day in a prison. They can't make all these custom meals. That's now how the kitchen works in a prison.
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
No. SBF is an entitled prick. And if you are worried about your dietary needs not being met in prison, then don't do shit that lands you in prison? What is this questioning?

Seems like an unnecessarily condescending comment

I wonder if there is anything more to the reason that it has never gained any real traction? A lot of groups would stand to lose a lot of money if something like this become used by even half the population. This would mean a massive reduction in purchases of many dental products, visits to dentists, procedures needed by dentists, etc.

All good. I misunderstood! I realize it isn't necessarily a quick and easy thing to change. :)
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
Their point is he is not in prison. Prison is post-conviction. Jail/detention center is pre-trial.
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
His choosing to be vegan is like my choosing to only eat white meat and fish (along with the usual vegetarian fare). Should I be able to get that if I knowingly break the law and go to jail? They can only do so much for a person. They have a kitchen that makes food for EVERYONE. It isn't to-order. I do agree 100% that conditions in our prison system are beyond atrocious. They are so so awful. I just have a hard time believing wherever he is sitting is one of those worse-off places. He can eat some damn meat in jail. He's being an entitled prick.
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
Right. He's been given way too much leniency already and look what he did with it. He's an asshole. He doesn't care. He cares about SAM, that's it. So, let him sit and cry because he 'has' to eat bread and peanut butter because he CHOOSES to stick to a vegan diet. I know plenty of vegans that, if presented with a situation where it was only PB and bread or other options, they would just say "Eh, well... I can just eat the other stuff for now because this is what there is..." That's a reasonable person. He is not reasonable and he is showing more and more how pathetically self-centered he really is.
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
While I do understand your points and even agree overall... it's just so hard to have any sympathy for someone that feels almost sociopathic in their decision making to ruin so many people financially. It's very hard.
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
100% how awful it is for normal people. But, I don't give a damn about SBF's needs. He's fine. He is just an insanely entitled narcissistic prick.
TheHumanist··on Sam Bankman-Fried's jail conditions offer a glimpse at systemic failure
Not to mention, along with the police brutalities, all the people, in the specific instance of SBF, whose lives have been financially ruined by this selfish, narcissistic asshole. Reading about them whining because he doesn't get his vegan diet and his Adderall is incredibly infuriating. Maybe don't be the way you have been? Maybe don't knowingly screw over so many people to the tune of BILLIONS? Maybe, then, don't continually break court-mandated rules?

Also, to be clear, I have no issue with vegan diet. I just think it's hilarious that that is a focus of theirs? Also, I take Adderall for ADHD so I understand how much it can help... but... MAYBE don't do what you did???? Do they expect him to live like he's in a resort?

Finally, I am a huge advocate for MUCH better treatment of prisoners on the whole. Prisoners in Texas right now with no form of cooling is absolutely awful and inhumane. You have people dying of heat stroke. The terrible medical 'care' in the prison system is so awful. The lack of rehabilitation services throughout the prison system is what keeps the rotating door rotating, and it is disgusting. The lack of support for people leaving prison and trying to reintegrate is beyond sad. BUT, this is someone who seems to have been fed from the silver spoon their whole life and clearly thought they were above it all. He wasn't raised on the streets and getting by the best way he knew how. He know what he was doing. He clearly used some of the money stolen from investors to try to hide that through the use of other politicians and their favor. So, why does anyone care about this entitled prick?

I thought you said above that you had removed the login requirement to view categories? I am still being asked to login. Or did I misunderstand? Would be nice to access categories without login necessary. Not seeing a reason that should be required?

Kevin is very wholesome and enjoyable. He's personally helped me with some stuff too when I was first learning and asking questions in the channel's discord server. Nice guy.

While I haven't taken either of his courses, his posts on his site are fantastic. I had forgotten about him. May end up grabbing one of his courses.
TheHumanist··on The End of the Googleverse
One issue for me (maybe it's my ADHD) is that there is almost TOO much content. I can't decide what to read. I have so many tabs of blog posts and such that look interesting that I never get around to. There is plenty of interesting content. More than ever before.

I hadn't thought of getting possibly locked out of Discord for something so stupid. I have so much going on in there as far as dev comms... That makes me nervous now. Is there a way to export anything just in case?
TheHumanist··on FDA approves multiple generics of ADHD and BED treatment Vyvanse
This is what the three people I have known that owned umbing companies did. They had someone they paid to handle a lot of the simple repetitive computer stuff (probably could even automate a lot of that now but I don't think they were people who would have though about that) and they would hop to different current job sites to check on work being done, check in with contractors to make sure work is good and employees are good, go to potential new job sites to meet with contractors or home owners, etc.

Actually, it does still involve lots of on your feet work. The owner is more often going between current sites to check work that's being done, going to new potential sites to talk with contractors and/or potential customers, etc. Yes, they also are handling the business end but for a plumbing company that doesn't mean you are at a computer all day, there isnt enough atuff for you yo donin that aspext to keep you busy.

I would love to get in with the CIA. Truly. But I made some bad choices when I was younger so I am disqualified out the gate. Same with FBI.

Favorite job I ever had was managing this small country store gas station when I was like 19-21 years old. Also managing a coffee shop. If I could do one of those and make a real living wage and be able to save for retirement and life stuffs I would do that RIGHT now. But.... That ain't happening. So. I sit at my desk yelling at my code. Man it is so hard to get started each day though. Some days it takes a couple hours to really get going on my actual work. And it isn't for lack of trying. It's so infuriating, wearing, and disheartening.
TheHumanist··on FDA approves multiple generics of ADHD and BED treatment Vyvanse
Long part of my life on Adderall and decent amount on Vyvanse at one point and never noticed any actual addictive cravings, like you mention.

Sure, when I stop I feel kinda crappy... But... I'm not on a stimulant that I had been on. I'm just not as 'up'. Not as focused. Etc. Never any actual withdrawals or cravings for either though. Gets very tiring how many people that probably never have regularly used either like to pull out their megaphones and yell about how they are addictive.

Why don't we worry about ultra processed foods, high sugar intake... Things like that that are actually a problem for a LOT of people? People focus on the oddest things.

Would you share the reasoning for each of these? Never heard of taking anything to help ward off Terrance of ADHD med
TheHumanist··on FDA approves multiple generics of ADHD and BED treatment Vyvanse
I've used vyvanse before for a good amount of time and had no addictive issues with it? Same with Adderall. Could just not take them for days or weeks with zero issue, and I'm someone that had teetered on the edge of addiction with other substances in the past. So, I think this could be helpful to people with BED
