TheHippo··on Python 3 in 2016
You can link a Go program completely statically, but it's not the default.
TheHippo··on Elixir-mail – Build composable mail messages
And you used the Go 1.3.3 which came out Oct 2014, but the current dev version for Elixir. This seems not fair.
TheHippo··on Elixir-mail – Build composable mail messages
For Go it uses the slowest webframework that is available.
TheHippo··on Dear “Dear GitHub”
I'm currently working in a start up that's using a paid Github organisation. The mentioned issues are a pain for us, even though we are currently only 6 people working on the code. Because of this shortcomings we will migrate somewhere else if we grew larger. So I would say this affects the business side of Github.

Do you have image "improvement" options enabled? Maybe disabling them could help.
TheHippo··on Go 1.6 GC improvements
I think they use this for internal planning. I saw this a few hours ago with not all issues from the bottom of the page crossed out.

This is more a "let's open our internal communication" thing than a final documentation for end users.

"Most cities in the world" and "every city in the Bay Area" are two total different things.

It baffles me sometimes that to many readers of Hacker News are so US centric.

TheHippo··on Never, ever, ever use MongoDB
Or: You could just RTFM and avoid all these issues.

For example: The message warning you that 32bit builds are not safe for storing more than 2GB of data is larger than the download button itself. If don't see this, you should probably be not in charge of storing any data anyways.

Many other issues have been resolved with the 3.0 release or are documented very clearly.

TheHippo··on The Netflix Website Gets a Major Upgrade
Silverlight has been ditched for over a year now, so I guess no ;-)
TheHippo··on Request for Java 8 support on Google App Engine
No. HTTP requests to snapchat still return with "Server: Google Frontend" header.
TheHippo··on Hyper – Hypervisor-agnostic Docker engine
I like how the animation in the header of the website requires two of my CPU cores at full speed.

Also offering piping to bash as first alternative for installing something.

> While the JVM is right at the heart of the monolithic software stack and the tooling that surrounds it, Node, or server-side JavaScript, is arguably at the heart of the new SOA stack.

I love developing with node.js, but this doesn't sound right at all.

TheHippo··on Intent to deprecate: Insecure HTTP
There is an open protocol[1] on how to retrieve the certificates, so you can implement a client in a language of your choice, or wait until someone else does it.

TheHippo··on VMWare Taken to Court Over GPL Violation
This will take place in German courts and from all what I known about the judicature here you cannot stretch a process endlessly if the judges don't allow it. Also this should a civil court (??) case, where usually the loosing side pays for the lawyers of the other side. (When you're right it is in general, from a financial point, always good to sue, because you only have to cover the court fees, about 150$ or nothing if you can prove that you have a low income.)
