I can’t think of many reasons why a startup should incorporate in Germany sine you can have the company registered in any other EU country and have access to the same common EU market.
I wonder if you are at liberty to write about the type of work you were doing? Looking from a far it’s hard to see such incremental changes and I wonder how will that affect Stripes future capabilities
I think traveling can teach you a lot about various ways of life, especially early on in life, but can also be viewed as eco irresponsible, especially if you're flying around just as a hobby.
Maybe consider doing something like English language or CS teaching in non-English country of your choosing and try embed yourself with the society there...
You're both wrong, I hope ;) Tech jobs just seems to follow the usual hype cycle so IMO tech jobs will still be needed in the future but perhaps fewer of them.
Tech jobs are also much harder than they used to be - when I started 'coding' HTML+CSS was considered high skill. Now you're expected to have serverless lambdas generating those pages and to configure a CDN and SSL and maybe talk to some backend Machine Learning APIs for a similar pay grade.
So roles where you can still handle other people, and deliver, working technical solutions will still be very much in demand.
you always work for someone, but you can have multiple clients so you're not at the mercy of one. Even if you save up some money you have to think of ways to make it work - be it in rentals or owning a factory - you just serve different groups of people then.
What would you recommend for an 11 year old kid interested in this?
I’m thinking a mixer like numark where you still have scratch pads but not using vinyls might be good enough to see if he’s interested enough?
Look up various stages of 'worker' - "eager beaver" is the young one, and if you're older, you may be bit disillusioned and will not work 70hr week days any more but that is valuable to the company as you know which parts of the work are bs and which are important. So try to add value in a way that matched your current experience level,
Plenty of people have already explained why 99% of the ventures are plain scams.
Small nuclear fission reactors are much more practical and already exist. In the extremely unlikely scenario that such a small reactor actually blows up (pretty much impossible by design) it’s an explosion smaller than some traditional bombs and way smaller than Hiroshima. But the only realistic risk is efficient supply chain of fuel and disposal of nuclear waste- again there are risks here but they are outweighed by not polluting the atmosphere with co2. We should use a lot more nuclear energy now, until renewables are more reliable.
Renewables also use lots of rare earth metals and generally are resource intensive to build and most components have a pretty short lifespan so for now nuclear is the greener way to produce power.
Have a think about what scenario are you preparing for - 8 hour outage or more?
Up to 8 hours, the LTE power generators will keep the bases station online (in practice a lot longer, usually, but not guaranteed).
If you need more than that, is it to keep you productive or what?
Ah so you still believe in the trickle down economy. The problem with that is that anyone making 500k is not going to be able to spend fast enough to keep people around them equally wealthy and it gets worse the higher you go - you physically can’t spend 10M+ on groceries and haircuts near you so the higher proportion goes to financial instruments and assets which does not trickle down to neighbours
Or you know just having a small room with a server rented that you ssh or vpn through.
I think by the time an employer gets into such arms war with the employees, it’s time to have a hard look in the mirror and see where the CEO is working from.
I found that a little surprising and upsetting about CloudFlare for example. The CTO is working from a beach town in Portugal but regular employees are bound to a physical office. And this is 100% ‘cloud’ company where all your work is logging in remotely anyway.
Just understand that CBs only influence the demand side of the economy- ie how easy/ cheap it is to get money. If the crisis is supply side, all they can do is constrain money supply so people can’t afford the scarce resources anymore.
Can anyone point me to how much the guy had actually earned? I feel that if he’d stayed in the US and earned Microsoft stock options he’d be much better off financially
If it helps, in Europe (and with flights from Europe say to Toronto) the main cause for diversions are unruly passengers and technical issues.
Both are on a slight rise post covid
I'm trying to think of use cases as the readme also suggest a threshold timestamp AFTER which things can't be decrypted (I guess for things like log rotation?) and I think that simply deleting (overwriting securely or whatever) would be far less resource intensive?
The subject had been explored many times over in books, games and magazines.
I quite like Horizon Zero Dawn's take - that post-apocalypse people should take it slow deliberately, the first reason being that too big of an advance in tech caused a given apocalypse in the first place.
