Always good to wake up one day and find out I'm a superior leader.
The cheapest M1 laptop is actually really affordable, almost the same price as this laptop's cheapest configuration. This is probably the exact product I would be looking for if I were trying to avoid buying from Apple. I couldn't find anything on cooling/fans, so IDK if this will be another standard Intel jet engine and lap burner.
Small problem with this. What enabled the Digg-to-reddit exodus was a strong competitor lying in the shadows. Nobody lying in the shadows behind reddit could handle an exodus. Most lemmy instances regularly go down anytime reddit so much as sneezes. I remember an exodus attempt to Voat took Voat down for at least a week, and in fact Voat never got back online until the entire exodus quit.
I love it! I need more than one domain.
> Unlimited amount of users.
For the free tier specifically, maybe organizations otherwise giving you $0 should have a limit like 20 or 100. Or "unlimited users" could be a $10/month addon for the free plan.
> No storage limit
too unfair for you, I'd rather pay B2 style prices for each GB past 10GB or something.
> but attachments stored only for 1 month.
Surprise deletions are an instant No. Most inboxes just show you your % usage in the corner and allow me to handle deletions on my schedule.
> Civil discussion for the center and center right
> Karl Marx: Atheist or Satanist?
> Candace Owens
> transphobic comic
> no links to github/gitlab
is this what passes for "civil discussion" and "center/center right" these days?
So anyways, the tumblr that's basically the same as it was 10 years ago (unless you used it for porn), that's also still growing, is dying according to you, but not the numbers. Interesting. This is kind of like reading about your own death in the newspaper.
Does this argument hold up for literally anything else advertisers might not like? For example (no moral equivalency implied), if you banned X (pick one: pedophiles, nazis, kkk, racists, snuff, animal abuse, warez) because advertisers perceived your website as having an X problem, are you sure you're not a little too intensely focused on the "line goes up"?
Does the reverse hold up? If tumblr tomorrow decided they would allow X content, and they estimated 30% traffic increase, would that be good? If course not, the pool of advertisers would shrink in quality and quantity.
According to https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/14/18266013/tumblr-porn-ban-...
they've had a 30% reduction in traffic.
If that means all the weirdos with genitalia in their profile pics are gone and stop messaging me randomly (which is who actually left as far as I can tell), then good!
The remaining MAU might actually be the users they wanted to keep.
But as someone who never used tumblr for porn, I've seen no evidence that tumblr is dying for anyone other than aficionados of porn.
Accounts that will likely get big offers will have a large number of followers, mod large subreddits or targeted subreddits.
Having an active account before the 2016 Russia thing is also worth something. When you want to spread misinformation or do shill marketing, it helps a lot to see any of the following when checking a user's Reddit profile:
- the user didn't register a month ago.
- the user didn't register just to talk exclusively on this subject/product.
- the user registered before Russia's IRA became active on Reddit.
- the user didn't stop exclusively participating in porn or sports subreddits just to make this comment.
- the user is writing enough quality comments that they don't feel compelled to delete most, if not all, of them.
- the user is not making contradictory claims (there is a famous example of someone claiming to be a cis woman in computers who had clearly cis male comments in several cis male oriented subreddits, one of them called something like "semen rentension". They were called out.
- the user posts in subreddits that are on good terms with the subreddit we found their suspicious comment in.
