I can think of two reasonable reasons why someone wouldn't want to investigate the matter:
1. It would be embarrassing for China.
2. It may be hard to properly communicate or convince people of the difference between an accidental lab leak vs. an intentional lab leak which could add fuel to a fire of jingoism/nationalism in other countries.
Again, I'm trying hard not to make a judgement here. Hopefully I did a decent job.
I can hear you.

Does anyone have any insight into why banks would relabel their savings accounts?
Empathy. What you're describing your shocked reaction to is empathy in others. This says a lot about you.
We have. That's why millions of people have pushed these companies to take a stand against hate. None of these companies are doing this because they want to lose money. If they thought it would be profitable long-term, they would keep doing it. It's the invisible hand of the market that you're really upset with here.
