And yeah, security would be an issue for me. I would most likely set up a user just for DeployButton.
Edit:
From Vancover...
I'm in the same boat - I'm trying to work on a startup but I need advice and motivation from peers who I can talk to in an environment which isn't impersonal.
I have to agree that an IRC channel would be awesome (#startups simply doesn't work for me).
I've jumped into the "Solo Startup Doers" event you created.
P.S. I do know of your app.
In addition, your footer doesn't completely cover the page - http://i.imgur.com/nHcrl.png
Also, you don't have a favicon.
Otherwise, pretty nice.
Will you be implementing a "Theme Library" (think Tumblr) where designers can share themes if it takes off?
I can't see a future for plugins if you want to keep it the "cleanest blogging platform."
Edit:
I just saw your comment where you said that you're not the developer - I guess you can't fix those bugs and address those questions...
I just found it yesterday...
I was looking for an alternative to Amazon SES and stumbled on Postmark.
I haven't gotten around to using it yet, but it looks like there are a lot of libraries and a lot of support for it.
- Stripe [http://stripe.com] (for Payment Handling)
- Heroku [http://heroku.com] (for Deployment)
- Amazon RDS [http://aws.amazon.com/rds/] (for DB hosting)
- Linode [http://linode.com] (512 is fine) (for Development)
- Postmark App* [http://postmarkapp.com] (for handling mail)
- Basecamp [http://basecamp.com] (for Project Management)
- Chartbeat [http://chartbeat.com] (for Stats)
- Sentry [http://getsentry.com] (for Exception Handling)
- Github Micro [http://github.com] (for Versioning & Private Repositories)
* Postmark charges for credits, not time. Either way, they do give 49,000 free credits for bootstrapped startups.
Amazon S3 costs $0.125/GB where as Google charges $0.12/GB.
And Google's integrates well with their App Engine and Cloud DB options.
(Correct me if I'm wrong.)
Edit:
It may be the Wii U, I'm not sure.
Love the graphics and the concept.
But, either way, I wouldn't use either - I wouldn't want to share my lists. Their mine and mine only.
I used Comic Sans with that app for a week before jumping to Sublime Text 2. :)
I don't think I'll ever finish it :/
Now that I'm in the States, I can use it easily.
If you do introduce Spotify support and need help testing it, I'd be more than willing to help.
Edit:
But either way, I like it :)
I normally just sit at the kitchen table.
That way, I don't have to open a different website for each song...
You could use the Spotify API...
